Can't love a movie for the same reasons you hate another... I tend to notice a lot of similarities with new releases and some of my favorite films.

53 episodes

Thought I'd take a look at a not so beloved Ryan Reynolds film since Deadpool is hitting theaters this weekend.

Since 10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters this week, I wanted to share a movie that reminds me of 2008's Cloverfield.

All the Divergent films remind me of something. When I saw insurgent I thought of Matrix Revolutions right away. From the Allegiant trailers, I'm pretty sure I could tell what movie it's like.

These films are practically identical -- or are they???

With two of my top 10 cliffhangers ever in a film, I'm willing to overlook the similarities between Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince & Inception.

By popular demand -- I had a great time looking for similarities between these two movies.

Am I the only one who is reminded of The Jungle Book when I watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes? I'm really hoping 2016's The Jungle Book reminds me a lot of the Disney version as well as bring new stuff to the table.

Since Huntsman: Winter's War hits theaters this week, I wanted to take a look a Snow White & The Huntsman. It reminded me a lot of Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Captain America: Civil War kicks off Phase III for the Marvel Cinematic Universe this week -- thought I'd review the similarities between Marvel movies we know and love.

With Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass hitting theaters this week, I did a Side by Side Movie Comparison of Alice in Wonderland (1951) & Hangover.

On the surface, Zootopia & The Amazing Spiderman 2 seem like total opposites, but after watching this side by side comparison, the resemblance is uncanny.

The video essay offers us a side by side comparison of each movie as they drive the point home and they do a great job at it.

You can find similarities in pretty much every movie. Some of these reasons make sense, some of them are really stretching it, and some are basically just there for the sake of comedy.

This video points out the similarities between Pixar’s Toy Story 2 and Pixar’s Finding Nemo.

Ghostbusters II came out in 1989 and Pixels came out in 2015. With 26 years between them you would figure there wouldn’t be that much in common but if you watch this video, it gives you about 24 reasons why these two movies are virtually indistinguishable and interchangable.

Our love for Galaxy Quest is well-documented here on the site. It's one of the best science fiction movies of the past twenty years, and it's a terrific parody of Star Trek.

These movies are surprisingly similar. You may not think so at first glance, but we might change your mind. On the surface, the two movies couldn't be more different. "Batman v Superman" came out in 2016, and "Iron Man 2" came out in 2010. One is set in the DC Films Universe, and the other is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It always blows my mind when he finds these insanely specific things that two films have in common — the more specific the better, like both of these having an egg salesman or a scene where the pretty girl's father tries to warn people in a bar.

As usual, some of these are pretty obvious and some are a bit of a stretch, but the ones I really like are the extremely specific instances.

Seeing all of the story similarities really brings to the surface how formulaic these disaster movies are when you break them down into plot beats. If a movie is any good, it'll make you forget that you're watching something that's been crafted by a screenwriter and pull you into its story; if not, these aspects will feel like little more than the filmmakers just checking boxes on the way to the finish line.

We are here to break down a staggering two dozen story points these two movies share.

Most people know that Django was originally intended to star Will Smith, but the actor ended up turning down the role and it went to Jamie Foxx. To me, that seems like one of the biggest mistakes of Smith's career.

Put the pedal to the metal and check out this new video. This one presents evidence that, when you boil them down into basic story points, it's the same movie. But this isn't just a simple "good guy wins, bad guy loses" type of boiling down of the facts.

From Professor X’s mansion getting constantly destroyed, to a runaway mutant, to at least one scene with a homewrecker trying to jack up a relationship, there are tons of structural similarities in the stories of these films.

Sure, they both take place in jungle-style environments, but how about the idea that they both have a character named John who both have golden-colored rocks used as ornaments? This, and many more bizarre similarities contained within!

Thanks to the post-credits scene in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, we know that Howard the Duck is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that's not the only connection the duck has to the MCU. You'll get a kick out of the head-scratching parallels here.

Even though Pixar makes one great film after another, it's clear that they follow a certain story formula that has proven to be successful.

A few of the things that it touches on is how the good guys always escape, how Jedi don't apply ageism, how father figures always die, how the female leads are gullible, and lots of other stuff.
