I don’t actually like why Hotch left the BAU but I also understand that given the situation with Thomas Gibson there’s not too many options they could have done.

Seriously? Not only did they drag back Prentiss but they dropped Hotchner and replaced him with that totally uncharismatic character.
That's going to lower the appeal of this series for me.
Less awkward episode with the casting changes. I will forever miss Hotch but still nice to see Prentiss back (and I'm glad they gave Hotch a plausible ending without killing him off)

Good reason for Hotch to leave the team (under the circumstances). The case was interesting, the ending was quite emotional.
