What a wild start to the Dead End franchise. It’s definitely a lot more rough and less assured than the show. A lot of the humor is desperate to please and very of it’s time, but it’s roughness is part of its charm. This is the start of a story that clearly means a lot to the writer, having taken it from webcomic to physical comic to kids show. Seeing how it evolved is part of the fun, and the eager drive to make an impression is endearing. Plus, Maria Bamford owns everything she’s given. If the show gets a season 2 I hope she guest stars as someone, it’d really bring things full circle.
