I love Dexter since years, so I don't want to be too negative here. But I have to say: I am so f?#*ing disappointed in S6 that I am thinking about to stop watching it till the last remaining episodes have aired - then watch them all in fast motion.
And someone please give Jennifer Carpenter (Debra) a Golden Globe/Emmy/etc. for her outstanding performance in every single episode."Best Actress on Television"
By far my favorite show on TV.
Not bad. Used to be better, but now it's just... dragging. Still, worth watching over most other shows.
This is my favourite show of all time!
I have watched it from start to finish 3 times now.
Great show! Loved it all the way through. Sad that it's gone.
Such a great show with a terrible end.
This was a really good show, i have watched this 2 years ago and for me i still can't find a better show than this. I hope and believe that Dexter will becoming like Prison Break.
Meh.. descent just nothing too special
I am not sure why everyone is complaining about the TV shows they watch. if you find it so fucking tedious, difficult and not enjoyable to watch, then do the fandom a favour and quit watching it. I am personally slightly disappointed that Cody and Astor weren't in the sixth season, but I don't give the show any less credit.
"Dexter" Season 7 premieres on Sun., Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. EST.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/12/homeland-season-2-premiere-date_n_1339470.html
Amazing ending to an amazing season! I'd say thianis the best so far, just tops s1
Just finished season 3. Crappy beginning but in the end it was very good. A long way to go but I'm not sad about that :p
One of the best series is of all timesOne more can I say
One Of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen many times make more like it
Liked it for the most part, disliked the father character.
A series that's really worth watching, keeps you at the edge of the seat till the end. Ending is kinda fitting but it will NOT be the way you expect, so many were disappointed because it wasn't how they pictured it. It's fine by me but there could've been more.
Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan nails her role. Atleast you should watch this just for her.I'm gonna miss this show and the characters ;-;
That ending though. I don't think anything else would have worked. You don't watch Dexter for the happy ever after. Good TV.
I am in love with this show! I'm anticipating a horrible ending due to all the things I've read but I'm prepared. It won't take away from such a wonderful show!
This is the best TV shows,I have ever seen
The ending just didn't make up for all the greatness the past seasons Dexter had. So disappointing.
Dexter is amazing, never a dull moment.Loved every bit... sure the ending could have been better but it doesnt ruin this amazing show.
First four seasons (especially Season 1 and 4) are great, but after that it becomes a boring mess.
Still have not found a better show than this. Dexter is a really good show. I really recommend it.
Best show I've watched! Disappointed in the finale
Love the show but yes the finale was a disappointment
season 1,2, great.4 amazingrest is medium at best
It was a rough start, but when watching you can't stop. Have to say, the finale was a disappointment.
TOTALLY LOVE THIS SERIE. I first thought I wouldn't like it, because there was such a hype around it and stories about women going totally crazy over Dexter. But I understand the hype. My number 1 favorite serie. It has the perfect amount of psycho and excitement. Almost makes me wanna be like Dexter ;)
Best show human kind have ever seen. The finale was satisfying.I really cant see where that negativity came from.
Amazing, Loved every second of it. Jennifer Carpenter is the best actress ever. The ending was crazy, not sure why it had to go that way, but it was a great story. I did shed some tears in the finale
Well loved watching it mostly, at the end it got kinda dragging and in somehow uncomfortable for me. Hated the ending though, still pretty good series to watch.
I loved every season bar the last I think it went a little OTT and just ddin't feel as strong as the others still an amazing show!
Such a great dark show! I find Dexter to be intriguing to say the least and the ' Dark Passenger ' I'm sure we can all relate to in some form or another. I miss these characters and would've liked to have seen an alternative end. A must see, even if it is just for the exceptional guest roles of Jimmy Smits and a huge role well portrayed by John Lithgow. Do not miss this show.(via TV Blaze for WP)
Minha série favorita. Como não amar o Dexter?
I loved watching Dexter for years. It was one of my favorite shows for a long time. But the last season was very disappointing to me.
so is dexter coming back?......
A great series, but its last 4 seasons are really bad.
My ending would have been WAY better...
Dexter was one of my all time favorite shows until the ending...what a stupid ending! All thru the last couple episodes I kept thinking...how are they gonna end this? Will Dexter sacrifice himself to save Deb? Has the erg to kill really disappeared? Will he get away without anyone knowing? Will there be a crazy twist that I never saw coming? Whoever wrote the ending to the greatest show ever should be drug out into the street and shot...I mean WTF?...seriously.
So I was in the middle of the final episode when this scenario suddenly popped into my head and I decided it would be the perfect ending...and maybe the sickest...
So Hannah and Harrison get on a bus to Jacksonville so they can get outta the storm zone and catch a flight to whatever location Dexter plans to make his fresh start...right...so from there the rest of the episode plays out exactly the same way up to the scene where Dexter takes Debs body out to sea then apparently blow up his boat to stage his own death. Here's where it changes. From there we see Dexter walk into a hotel in an unknown location. At the front desk he says his wife and son have already checked in and he needs to pick up his key. Flip to Dexter entering hotel room and calling out to Hannah. As he rounds a corner he sees Hannah dead in a large pool of blood...then he sees Harrison...sitting in Hannah's blood...holding a knife. Dexter then hugs Harrison and tells him everything is gonna be okay. Jump to 10 years later where we see Dexter and teenage Harrison in one of Dexter's plastic covered kill rooms with a body on the table. Dexter is giving Harrison a lesson on how to get away with murder and we then see that Dexter has been teaching Harrison how to control his erg to kill and how to follow "the code" that his own father taught him. THE END
Now you be the judge...who's ending is better...mine or theirs?
I'd recommend Dexter to just about anyone, serial killers included.
I've watched Dexter through-and-through about four times in total. After completing all eight seasons the first time, it was my favorite TV show. I loved it. After watching it the third time I realised just how mild and underwhelming the writing is. I cringed everytime something overzealed happened.
The show really showed promise. They layed a fascinating foundation, but after season 4 it really went downhill.
"There are no secrets in life; just hidden truths that lie beneath the surface." Not bad at all, ending was lame though.
One of the best series i have ever watched.
Jennifer Carpenter aka Debra Morgan was amazing in the whole serie.
But as a reminder i wanted to leave the serie at Sesion 6 the worst season. The best season was 5.
Last few seasons sucked, just sayin'
Great, Dexter is an awesome show. Ended up terrible? o.O
Очень крутой сериал!!!!
This is the best series i've ever watched. İt should not end :((
Remember when people used to say Dexter is one of the best shows on tv? I do... Then season 8 happened...
Was very good until season 3/4, then ... so so
I don't like the ending, but overall it was a great show.
Best TV Show Ever!!!
Though, the last season was not great as those previous ones, this show is captivating!
Very addictive series.
One of the greatest shows
One of the greatest shows, shame about the last two seasons though!
is season 9 likely???? I know, dex can come back from the cabin, or continue his path up there?
Loved this series. It didn't have the same feel by the end though.
The best séries of everytime.5 stars for that...
To bad I'm identical to the ole boy.and Everything he stands for, thinks, and lived in Miami,as well as law enforcement.and would have same code.only after studying all facts and figures, would I ever do it...to the letter.BUT,it kills me that it would never happen as fantasy,fiction,Hollywood,etc..flawlessly plans,or writes.and that is fact.the flawless writings.how I wish I could really carry on his work in real life.i know first hand experience...justice system SUCKS.and scum like his targets, get away with murder every day...just to kill and kill again.fuck that circumstantial, and rights shit.100% guilty.like the victims, didn't have a chance to say goodbye to the ones they love,so upon guilty verdict, take the fucks straight to the public square...crime fits the punishment.Rape, strap em' down, cut their shit OFF,and before they bleed out,you slam a red hot poker up their ass, that they can light one last smoke.THE END!
Dexter is an acquired taste. How you move from distancing yourself and eying detachedly his moves in the beginning of season 1, to wanting to find more about him towards the end of that season, to rooting for him in season 2, to feeling more involved in season 3, to feeling every pang of his pain and suffering in the ending of season 4... is a testimony of this series growth, involvement, action, drama, thrill, and well even comedy relief with Deb.
Unfortunately, as with everyone else here, I think the show went downhill from there onwards. Season 5 was acceptable. Season 6 was painful to watch, and its only redeeming quality was in the last scene where everything somehow makes sense (albeit not even remotely in a satisfying way) with the "oh God" words uttered at the end of 12 religion-axed episodes. Season 7 was so uncharacteristic that I don't even remember any of it, except some parts of the finale. Season 8 was meh, predictable, and almost an insult to the viewers who stuck with Dexter until the end. So many characters were added as fillers, as if the writers didn't know how to create content for 12 episodes. Contrast that with the riveting breath-taking first four seasons and you know how disappointing that is.
I read a lot about the finale, to try and see the different points of view, and the one article that stuck with me was an interview with the showrunner who explained all of the writers decisions with it. The problem with it? It was logical, a bit too logical, a series of very obvious cause-effect relations that lacked any of the original Dexter's surprise, unexpected twists and smart moves.
Dexter will always live with me as the series with the most ground-breaking first 4 seasons, and I'll choose not to remember what happened afterward.
Can't wait to get to the final!
The seventh season is forever my favorite. I'll miss Dexter.
For me, the best serie I have ever seen !
one of the best series ever. must watch. miss you Dexter :-(

great show, one of the greatest series ever. I liked the ending, but then I belong in the minority...definitely MUST WATCH!
Luvd d series..
A great show. But last season begins to disappoint, and the ending is totally disappointing!
I love dexter but hate the ending thanks to showtime
Why end this show like if it was a movie? WHY!
Rita?seriously?that was unexpected...
Best there is :)
Best Tv show ever seen.
ahhh that ending really disappointed me...
Une fin qui nous laisse sur notre faim.
Anfangs etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber dann nicht mehr weg zu denken.
best tv show i've ever seen but the final episode was a little non-sequitur
i miss you Dex ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Season ratings by me:
Season 1 = 10/10Season 2 = 10/10Season 3 = 9/10Season 4 = 8,5/10Season 5 = 7/10
I still need to watch last seasons..
BEST TV-show ever! I Miss you so much, Dexter ❤️❤️❤️
First seasons were amazing, but the last 3 weren't up to scratch, with an all time low in the last episode, terrible!
esta entre as melhores séries
Cómo joder 8 temporadas en 10 minutos.
Cut out the last 30 seconds and the final episode would have been alot better.
Terrible. Just terrible. Keeping seasons one and two. Seriously considering ditching them still.
Seasons 1-4 were absolutely brilliant for me, but it went downhill from season 5 to the finale. Well, maybe not completely downhill but with ups and downs.
I still liked the way they handled some things, but the final season's conclusion was a huge disappointment, the last episode was probably the worst episode of it in my opinion. I think I accepted too many odd things in the plot and still had hopes of something else, but not this.
Anyway, thank you cast & crew for 8 seasons of Dexter. This was one of the shows that made me addicted to watch series in general, and I have a good memory of when I first saw the first season a few years back.
Well, after reading 500 comments on the end of Dexter, and interviews with producers, came to my final conclusion about the episode: I think they tried to do something lazy and too poetic. The series has always had care for every detail and was made the least these last two episodes. All though the series was based on a novel, they could do a sad ending and at the same time more realistic. In my opinion the episode was good until the most pointless part: Dexter taking Deb's body off to the hospital with no one to see, just to throw it in the river. I caught any message transmitted this part: take Deb's body on the boat to throw it in the river, as if he had killed her. But it was Debra, a SUPER important character in the series and she deserved a proper burial and farewells. Apart from that, I understand the meaning in the death of Debra. Throughout the series, every time Dexter got involved and undertook with some killer, something happened to someone important and close to him, so much that his plan was not to kill Saxon so the whole family could live in peace. But Saxon ended up killing someone he cared (Vogel), shooting Debra, and because of that he thinks that he's the most guilty of the death of Debra. I thought that was a beautiful scene when he turns off the appliances of Debra, so she would not suffer anymore, since all his life Dexter has been taking care of her. And I understand that Dexter lumberjack was a kind of exile for him, all thought it was unnecessary. The bright side for me is that, despite the weak end, the series still has great moments and seasons that will weigh more and will still make one of my favorites series forever.
I did not like how they chose to end the series, let's just leave it at that. One of my favorite shows nonetheless, with my favorite season being the fourth.
The best finale i have ever seen
One of the greatest shows ever made
THE END IS HEREcan't wait to see the finally
You guys are too worried about big twists and big enemies for Dexter and are forgetting about Dexter's own actual personal life. He now have a son growing up, a girlfriend that is wanted by the police, and he does not know how to manage it right, as a new enemy wants to take it from him. Does not compare to the firsts seasons, but I think the new season focuses more on what is gonna be of Dexter's personal life now, in his feelings, and of the people around him. And the series seems more "mature" now. It's pretty fun, if you really pay attention in the history.
The 7 is for seasons 1, 2, 4, and maybe 5. Those seasons are full of what once made this show great: fantastic acting, writing and dark humor coupled with a hands down compelling character. This show is now a trope namer for that which has gone on too long. Should have ended sooner. Seasons 6 and beyond get a 4 and lots and lots of rage from me.
can not see it which screen ??
It's time to speak the truth. I've been a Dexter fan since the beginning and have awaited each new season with high hopes, but the harsh reality is that this show hasn't been any good since season 4. I keep wanting it to be good, but it just isn't. It's almost as if the writers (Scott Buck in particular?) made the decision that, hey, since this is all fantasy anyway, nothing has to make sense or have any continuity whatsoever. The writing is awful, the dialog is horrible, the excessive Dexter voiceovers pointing out the obvious show that they don't give the audience credit for anything anymore, and the massive royal F*** YOU of it all was this insane, ridiculous notion of Debra being "in love" with Dexter. And it's not just that it's "gross" because they're step-siblings. It's completely cheesy, stupid, out of character, and unnecessary. I'll watch the rest of it because I'm too invested now, but unless the last six episodes surprise and impress the hell out of me, I'll always look back on these 8 seasons as, "alright, the first half was good; the second half was mediocre at best." Now, let the abuse star
Pretty much the best show
Love this show! Bummed that this is the lst season...
Sad this is the last season! But it has to end sometime I guess!
One of my favourite crime related tv shows. None of that predictable csi crap!!

amazing serial killer
If you want to be murdered, Dexter is your man.
AMAZING BEST TV SHOW EVER
This show is my all time fave next to Weeds. I still have to catch up to the rest of this past season. Love it!!!
Showtime announces early return for Dexterhttp://tvline.com/2013/01/12/dexter-season-8-homeland-season-3-premieres/(June 30th) :D
Bring on Season 08!
Yet again a stunning clifhanger for season 7, can't wait for the final season! Any confirmations on the season 8 premiere date?
I have to say this season has redeemed itself once again as Dexter 'chilling and exciting', the way it was the first season. So much depth, darkness and twisted events that screw with how we deal with emotions and feelings. It doesn't feel like the show will die out anytime soon like many long running shows reaching this length.
Surprised by how engaging this season is. There's a lot more focus on relationships, character development and side stories, rather than just solving the main villain case.
Great cast and cinematography. Boring plot mechanics. Maybe give it a shot later.
whatever we feel is described in words...
@destielstarship You got defensive about people criticizing the show, and now you are throwing insults at me because I disagreed with you. This isn't a place to get into personal attacks, vigorous debate is fine, but there is no need to start insulting people (or telling people to keep their opinions to themselves) because they disagree with you.
incest can only accure if the people are related by blood he's not even her half brother.
@destielstarship its because they are not related by blood why there's nothing wrong with it?
@joecan I tried and wanted to—and I honestly tried, but I just can't—take you seriously. Sorry for upsetting you, I guess. On a side note: A criticism is primarily analytical and unbiased; I haven't read a single good criticism on here. All the criticisms were biased opinions.
@BenFranklin We need mention-notifications and a way to like (please call it "besmooch") people's shouts. ~
@venixo Not judging you, because I ship some very weird things myself, but incest (even though they're not related by blood) is a no-no.
is it very weird of me to want dexter and deb to be together ?
lagu sukur madura
My favourite one is back!!
Yeah Showtime didn't want the serie to end in one season, so they gave them two. This was already known when season 7 was announced.
Notice that it has also been confirmed for an 8th season
@BenFranklin Carpenter is terrible. My front door has more range. I don't like the character because the writers have chosen to make her an idiot for most of the show's run, but that's another issue. It's going to make my brain a few centuries to get over that comparison to Nolan. :p
Unpredictability isn't an indication of good writing, it can be a tool of a good writer, but writing an episode that is unpredictable doesn't make good writing. The writing isn't terrible, often times it can be quite good, but the writers continually rely on the same characters and situations to create the same suspenseful setup almost every year. Deb & Rita are the prime examples, but there are others. LaGuerta & Louis are going to be those characters this season apparently. Not quite smart enough to figure out Dexter's secret, but just enough to give him 4-5 episodes of curveballs. This being the last season, I hope to god that will change.
Guys wait a minute...@destielstarship it wasn't a complaint about the show, but more a love letter to the previous seasons (1-4) AND about my hopes for the new season.Yes, the last season gave me a hard time but I would watch it if I wouldn't love "the show".
As for now I believe season 7 will be the best Dexter we've seen so far!
@joecan Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) a bad actress ... ok eveything is relativ, but to me that's like saying Christopher Nolan does standard movies :)Are you sure you maybe just dislike the characters?Bad writing? Well for me several seasons of Dexter were pretty unpredictable, and I mean every episode, every minute of most the seasons - so if that is bad writing, I don't know what good writing is.
@destielstarship If people are fans of a show and have invested time into watching multiples seasons because they thought they were good and the show starts taking a dive, why shouldn't they be upset? As far as leaving the fandom alone, I'd suggest that if you don't like criticism of things, you probably should stop using the Internet :).
I really like this show for what it is. It isn't the best show on TV, and there may have been only one season that even entered the Top 10 on my year end lists. But it's enjoyable suspense, with an intriguing concept and great lead actor. The reason it doesn't reach beyond that are for two reasons, acting and writing. The actors that play Deb & Rita are awful, and they've been awful in everything I've ever seen them in. This is compounded when the writers depend too much on those two characters to create problems for Dexter. Given his situation it's bound to happen, but the reliance on Deb & Rita's stupidity to create suspense gets annoying. You can add Astor and Quinn to that list of awfulness as well.
As far as Season 6 goes, I echo what others have said, last season should have been the plot this season is beginning with.
All that said I love Michael C. Hall, and many of the guest stars throughout the years (Lithgow, Mos Def) have been great additions to the cast. I still find myself enjoying the show more than I dislike it. It's a very solid 7/10.
@Ben & pody, I completely agree. After the Lithgow season, I noticed things definitely took a dive in terms of quality and writing. Hope the new season is more on par with seasons 1-4.
I couldn't agree with you more BenFranklin. I really hated season 6 and I thought Colin Hanks was a terrible choice as the villain. He was awful.
For me Dexter is a strong 9 without that last season, but with that season it's just an 8. :/
I can't wait for it to start again though. It ended with a real cliffhanger.
Before the new season of Dexter is starting I have to get something off my chest.I think the last season (6) was incredible bad, it wasn't even close to the quality season 1-4 had. Here is the problem: Since 5 seasons we know Dexter as a family guy and there was no sign, not even a thought about beeing a christian and all of a sudden there is christ everywhere and everything is about christ & salvation. I did absolutely not fit into the picture and not to mention he or the producers of the show never mentioned Ester or Cody once, nothing, like they wouldn't even exist. To me it was just a filler, only serving a purpose to introduce Dexters groupie (the game programmer) which will play a bigger part in S7, getting the kids out of sight (ok, Ester will appear in s07e08 again) & most of all, the situation with Deb.
I love Dexter, but it's going far to long now. IMO season 7 should have been season 6. I don't know maybe the contract was saying that there have to be 7 seasons...I'm just hoping that season 7 will be up to the old standard again, not this predictable s#!+, we most certainly don't need a 8th season! As for now the trailer is looking crazy - so my hopes are high.
Dex will find a way to explain !
We have the feeling that this season will end sadly for one of the Morgans.
Awesome show, can't wait for the next season.
Just awesome! Best Tv show ever!!
I can not for my life understand how he will explain to Deb why he was in a church stabbing Travis to death. Can't wait for Season 7.
The first half of the first season was boring...But, i'm glad i stuck around. It's a very good show!
@BenFranklin the season really kicked into high gear the last couple of episodes. I was a bit disappointed as well but now ... nice :D (although I think last season was better)
Seasons 1&2 of Dexter were amazing but some of the more recent seasons have been a bit slow in places. But the thing with Dexter is that even when its having a bit of a lull there still isn't anything on TV that surpasses it. It can be a bit like that with Breaking Bad too. I feel attached to the characters in both shows in the same way I was with Lost so I'll watch Dexter next week even if they just go for a picnic.
I'm enjoying this season more than the last few. Dexter as a husband doesn't quite fit.. Loving mos def, he shows he can act!
This season is very good. I love the book of revelations theme
best. show. ever.
This show is one of the greatest shows ever created. I love season two and four but five was very disappointing. Hopefully Season 6 will blow us away!
