Why ?! Why did you choose to end like that !
I feel like this is the weakest season which is unfortunate considering it's the last season. There's just so many story issues like if Hannah is a wanted fugitive why wouldn't she alter her appearance at all? Change the hair color, cut it shorter, something so she's not so recognizable. And the ending just leaves a lot to be desired. I understand changing things from the books, but I don't understand changing them so drastically.
Well, as always, very gory and brutal. It's not the best season IMHO but I have to disagree with the other posters here: I think it was a worthy and good finish! Additionally Dexter got exactly what he deserved!
Maybe got even more than he deserved by keeping this life because, let's face it, in the end it was him who was responsible for the murder of some innocents (e.g. LaGuerta or Deb) and despite his Codex he's still a killing psychopath!
Dexter wraps up in its eighth and final season, but it goes out with more of a whimper than a bang. As is typical in final seasons, things come full circle. During his pursuit of a serial killer called the Brian Surgeon, Dexter learns that the consultant on the case, Dr. Vogel, knew his father and helped him to create the code by which Dexter kills; meanwhile Deb spirals down a path of self-destruction trying to come to terms with what she’s had to do to protect Dexter’s secret. Unfortunately, the writing is pretty spotty and doesn’t really have the focus that’s come to be expected from the series. And, the highly controversial and emotional finale is extraordinarily unsatisfying to long-term fans that have come to be invested in the show and its characters. While there are some interesting story arcs throughout the season, overall Season 8 of Dexter is a disappointing and frustrating end to a groundbreaking television series.
the ending has such mixed feelings. re-watching it before I start New Blood.
So the ending is not great, but it’s also not nearly as bad as it’s made out to be. They tied up all the loose ends and let him fade away.
Worst ending. They worked up a redeemable plot line for Dexter and made it seem like he was improving as a person then they managed to throw it all away in 1 hour
He deserved to be happy even though he was a serial killer. He made mistakes but he loved his sister, son and Hannah. Tragic ending.
For a finale season it doesn't feel like it's the last one and it's relaxing without all the tension in the mid part hell even at the end, not that much but I expected the ending quite different, but I'm not really disappointed, completely but still a good ending.
The 8th season of Dexter takes on a special and one feels that it is the last season: Dr. Vogel treats Dexter, Deb (now a PI and an emotional wreck after having killed LaGuarda) and a new kid, who she suggests to become the protégé of Dexter. Additionally, Hannah returns from prison under a new alias and with a multi-millionaire husband while still in love with Dexter.
Everything turns awry when the protégé himself is killed...
I felt sad for Dexter ... he deserved good

One of the worst endings of a beloved show. Often still think about it... so it has left a SCAR
