Dietland 2018

As an obese woman and a feminist myself I have to honestly say that I strongly disliked this show. It's morals ("The patriarchy is at fault" and "Accept yourself even when you're not happy with how/who you are") are flawed, the pacing is odd and the villains unintentionally seem like the good guys when compared to the insanity of the characters you are actually supposed to root for.
Make no mistake, this is a feminist tv show and it's not a particularly good one. I would advise to pass on it.

I liked this show a lot more than I was expecting. It's bold, has a whole lot of ideas, and was just a fun and propulsive ride throughout. I'm sad I'm just getting to it now, after it was cancelled. I'd have loved to see what they could have done with a Seaseon 2. If anyone is looking for a good review, I thought Emily Nussbaum's in The New Yorker was well-done, and eluminated many of my thoughts.

Unfortunately, this show is merely an attempt to catch some body positivity hype. Sloppy acting, lazy screenwriting and stagy characters would have been OK if only they served the right purpose. But the feminist side feels trite and as much outdated as newtonian gravity. Such a shame! Also, the way the magazine industry was pictured made me roll my eyes. Couldn't make it past episode 4.

Completely passable show…meaning you can pass on it. It’s nothing special or nuanced. It feels a bit lazy in its writing and acting. I watched it cause I was bored but I’ll probably drop it if it returns. In truth it should be cancelled as it didn’t earn a second season.
