Mu Young was once an aspiring judo athlete. However, after an unfortunate incident, his life changes completely. He becomes a self-proclaimed media jackal and goes undercover for a new article. He’s in search of a man with a tattoo. While undercover, he and his team get mixed in a fight and come across a surprising discovery.
Suk Min is the head of the splash team and works with the Prosecutor’s Office to reveal the truth of a scandal. Little does he know; his team will be used as a scapegoat to keep the scandal covered. Meanwhile, Mu Young is determined to find the person behind the fixed match and punish them.
After Chul Ho’s death, Mu Young tells Suk Min that the man who was tried for his brother’s case was a fake. When he returns home after the trial, Mu Young gets attacked by the man with a tattoo. So Ra is transferred to a different branch, and the splash team gets disbanded. As a result of all of all the events that occurred after Chul Ho’s death, Mu Young decides to become a media jackal.
So Ra asks around to find out more about Aeguk Newspaper. Mu Young decides to sell the footage of the night he and his team found the dead bodies to Daehan Newspaper. So Ra is told that Park Eung Mo’s DNA was found at the scene of the crime, which is enough to put him on trial.
Mu Young is angered because Eung Mo was released due to the statute of limitations. So Ra is suspicious of the prosecution’s investigation, so she calls Aeguk Newspaper to receive the original file for Eung Mo’s confession video. However, upon receiving So Ra’s phone call, Mu Young tells her that he will resolve things his own way.
After Eung Mo falls to his death, Mu Young is conflicted. He tries to put the pieces together from his and Eung Mo’s last phone call in order to find the man with the tattoo. New evidence comes up that suggests that Eung Mo’s death could have been avoided. Meanwhile, Suk Min watches Mu Young from afar and debates whether he should start looking into Chul Ho’s death again.
Mu Young begins to look in to the Yoon Seon Woo case. He goes to visit Seon Woo in prison. He gets rejected, but he manages to get a note with his contact information to Seon Woo. Seon Woo ends up in the hospital, and he threatens Mu Young and tells him to prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Suk Min goes to Tae Won and tells him that he wants to reveal the truth behind Chul Ho’s death, and to do that, he would like to restart the Splash Team.
Mu Young and Seon Woo put on a show in the hospital, and Mu Young helps Seon Woo escape. Seon Woo tells the team at Aeguk Newspaper his story about how he’s innocent and a witness. The team decides to hold a live broadcasting to plead Seon Woo’s case and prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Suk Min begins to work on his own investigation to figure out the truth behind Seon Woo’s claims during the live broadcasting.
Suk Min continues going against Tae Won and asks for the reinstatement of the Splash Team. Suk Min visits Mu Young for the first time in five years. He then asks Mu Young if he is ready to hear the truth behind his brother’s death. Meanwhile, Mu Young finds out that Seon Woo has disappeared. Upon hearing this news, Mu Young is in a hurry to find Seon Woo in fear that something bad might happen.
Mu Young works hard to unveil the truth behind Seon Woo’s death. Suk Min tells Mu Young his plan to reveal the truth about everything. He also goes around recruiting people to join him and the Splash Team. Meanwhile, Tae Won decides to hire a reporter at a different newspaper to write negative articles targeted at Dong Shik and Aeguk Newspaper.
So Ra is hesitant to join Mu Young’s search to find out the truth. She re-evaluates the conversation she had with Suk Min as she is debating whether or not she should partake in Mu Young’s search. Tae Joon confesses to perjury through Aeguk Newspaper, and they post the article with the video online. Meanwhile, Tae Won begins to prepare to release an article that will turn the public’s opinion against Aeguk Newspaper.
So Ra visits Mu Young at the precinct. She decides that she will work with Mu Young to find out the truth. The police hold a press conference saying that Yoon Seon Woo left a suicide note saying that Aeguk Newspaper abetted in his suicide. Meanwhile, detectives arrive at the Aeguk Newspaper office to arrest them for abetting in Seon Woo’s suicide. Tae Won decides to re-establish the Splash Team and brings it up during the board of executives meeting.
Mu Young and Suk Min are certain that there is someone who is behind Chan Su. Mu Young tries to strike a deal with Chan Su using the hit-and-run accident of the third generation conglomerate as leverage. That night, Chan Su appears in front of Mu Young with a group of gangsters. The scene of the confrontation becomes a mess. Mu Young sees Chan Su running away and chases after him.
During the chase, Chan Su gets into an accident and dies. News breaks that Seon Woo was framed, so Tae Won moves fast to make sure he and Daehan Newspaper doesn't get negatively affected. Suk Min sneaks into the morgue and realizes that Chan Su and Chul Ho's deaths are similar. Mu Young is hospitalized, and So Ra finds out about Chul Ho and Mu Young's relationship.
Mu Young is safe after he got attacked by the man who had stabbed him years ago. So Ra is afraid that Mu Young might get hurt when he finds out the truth about his brother, so she is careful around him. She also continues to investigate Seon Woo's case. Meanwhile, Sung Shik is tormented over where his loyalties must lie.
Tae Won and the Splash Team both work hard to prepare articles for Daehan Newspaper. Suk Min goes behind Tae Won's back and changes the Splash Team article. It is revealed that Daehan Newspaper's article on Seon Woo's death was false, and that he was actually alive. Meanwhile, Seon Woo's case goes to retrial.
Suk Min is shocked when he finds out that the man who killed Chul Ho was the man with the tattoo. Mu Young is also shocked and in turmoil when Suk Min tells him that Chul Ho was behind the false articles five years ago during Chairman Min's case. Meanwhile, So Ra continues her investigation to find the true criminal behind the Incheon Coast Guard murder.
As his wife gets sicker, Tae Won becomes more desperate to save her. He decides to implore the elders to move the transplant committee so that his wife can be moved up on the recipients list. Suk Min and the Splash Team receive a USB with information that Nam Kang Myung, a man thought to be dead, was still alive. Meanwhile, So Ra receives Chan Su's autopsy report and runs to Mu Young to tell him the results.
The Splash Team decides to find Nam Kang Myung in order to figure out the truth behind the start of the falsified articles five years ago. At the same time, Yeon Su reveals her determination to catch Nam Kang Myung, the man who embezzled investment money and pretended to have died. Meanwhile, Suk Min and Yoo Kyung find something suspicious when they look into Chul Ho's investigation notes.
So Ra and Mu Young continue to look for the identity of the man with the tattoo. Tae Won and Young Ki continue to go head to head, and do whatever they can to bring the power to their side and win the elders' favors. Young Ki catches wind that Tae Won intends to expose Nam Kang Myung. Meanwhile, Suk Min tells Mu Young that Chul Ho had left clues in his falsified articles.
Mu Young can't accept Suk Min's suggestion that he give up on his brother's case. Mu Young begins to look into the past cases in order to find a reason for him to continue searching for the truth. Mu Young tells his peers at Aeguk Newspaper that they should search for Hae Young, who disappeared 20 years ago. Meanwhile, Tae Won continues to pressure Young Ki and waits for his opportunity to resolve the Nam Kang Myung case.
The team at Aeguk Newspaper split up to investigate Hae Young's case. Suk Min and the Splash Team also go undercover in order to find a lead on the Nam Kang Myung case. So Ra and her team also continue to investigate the Nam Kang Myung case. Meanwhile, the Splash Team and So Ra find out that Nam Kang Myung is returning to Korea.
As everyone is gathered at Kyung In Port, Mu Young is confused as to why the news reports stated that Nam Kang Myung was to enter the country through Port Gung Pyung. Suk Min figures out that this was a trap, and So Ra and Mu Young head to Gung Pyung just in case the reports were true. Meanwhile in Gung Pyung, there are mobs of reporters and victims causing chaos at the scene.
Tae Won gives orders to frame Aeguk Newspaper for releasing news of Nam Kang Myung's secret arrival to Korea. He also tries to figure out the reason why the elders allowed Nam Kang Myung to stay alive all this time. Mu Young realizes that something strange is going on and begins asking questions. Meanwhile, So Ra checks Nam Kang Myung's corpse and orders for his fingerprints to be examined.
It is revealed that the dead man was not really Nam Kang Myung, and the case is back to square one. When Mu Young and Aeguk Newspaper realizes that they were used as pawns to help the real Nam Kang Myung escape, they are shocked. So Ra is also on the verge of being expelled from her position after the release of a falsified article. When this happens, Mu Young declares that he will go head-to-head with Nam Kang Myung.
Mu Young devises a plan to bring Nam Kang Myung into the public eye. With the help of the Youngbum Gang and the Splash Team, Aeguk Newspaper decides to go after Nam Kang Myung. Tae Won is agitated over Mu Young's unexpected response and tells Hae Dong to end this case as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Nam Kang Myung is nervous as the rumors that he's alive are still floating around.
Mu Young and the group finds the hidden personal vault keys. They put their plan in motion and begin to go to each vault to collect Nam Kang Myung's hidden money. Aeguk Newspaper, Splash Team, and the prosecution all put their jobs on the line in order to reveal the truth. Meanwhile, Tae Won gives Im Ji Tae a copy of a photograph of the late Seo Hae Young and pressures him into taking the case.
While Aeguk Newspaper goes to each personal vault, So Ra looks into Jeon Chan Su, and the Splash Team investigates further into Nam Kang Myung, Gu Tae Won and Faith Center. As Suk Min follows the trails of articles, he realizes that they have been following the path that Chul Ho had been on five years ago before his death. Meanwhile, Nam Kang Myung finds out that his personal vaults have been emptied by Mu Young.
Mu Young asks Nam Kang Myung about the meaning behind the tattoo. Tae Won and Young Ki ignore one another's agendas and prepare to use Nam Kang Myung for their own benefits. Meanwhile, So Ra asks Yeon Su for a favor before she goes in front of the disciplinary committee.
So Ra uses the information she found on the memory card to get an arrest warrant for Ji Tae. Suk Min confronts Tae Won over the information he retrieved from the recorder. Suk Min tries to make a deal with Tae Won to keep Splash Team together and exonerate So Ra. Meanwhile, Suk Min and the Splash Team searches for an alternative way to get their voices heard.
Suk Min and Mu Young receive Chul Ho's USB from an anonymous source. This USB contained the information that Chul Ho had gathered five years ago. Mu Young goes to Tae Won and demands that he come clean and reveal the truth behind Faith Center and all the events that followed.
Mu Young and Aeguk Newspaper release Chul Ho's video. As Chul Ho's video surfaces, it revealed the truth behind the conspiracy of the black curtain. Mu Young finds out where the man with the tattoo is and goes after him. The man with the tattoo's identity shocks Mu Young, So Ra and Suk Min.
