Omg this episode is so fucking good I don't even know what to say. The doctor and Donna are just electric in a way that's so unlike everything that's come before. Just Tennant and Tate together is so fucking brilliant. Their comedic timing their chemistry it's all just fabulous and clicks from jump.
But what really hooked me in was the before. Every companion introduction works to ask the question why would they leave and no episode so far had done a better job than Partners in Crime. The way we really sit with Donna and unravel how stagnant her life feels and how much she craves adventure. As much as Tate is a comedic powerhouse she really shines in those moments. Her piercingly berating mother and that quiet encouragement from her grandfather her failure to really self actualize on her own. That longining is so honest and immediate and present that you can't help but want her on that tardis immediately
And the Doctor here feels changed by all that's happened to him. Sure he's always been lonely but the weight of everything seems to have really sunk into his bones. So him being confronted with someone who wants this so bad feels so much more moving. It's also nice to see he's processed how shitty he was to Martha all of series 3 and is working not to hurt the next person he brings on with him.
This was a fabulous premiere and got me so hype for the doctor and donna's adventures.

NOT a Donna fan... really wanted Astrid to be the new companion.
Hopefully Donna doesn't make it to season 5.
There is a very small chance she can grow on me but I doubt it.
In my opinion, this is okay 1st episode of season 4. It's not really exciting.

My jaw literally dropped when the women Donna was talking to at the end turned around and we saw that it was Rose. I hope that’s not the last we’ve seen of her
