What the fuuuuck?? What kind of logic is "Let's leave the kids to die because they're going to miss their parents."??? Has Clara snapped or something? That makes zero sense, neither for the Doctor nor for her. By that logic, you might as well not save anyone ever because they're all going to be dead sooner or later. And all of this just to get in some random comment about how tragic the Doctor's existence is? Despite the fact that the Doctor is not, in fact, the last of his kind, the writers have just conveniently forgotten his search for Gallifrey?
I'm sorry, the story itself was quite interesting if a bit disjointed (as has been happening a lot lately), but that scene and the fact they made Clara say that and the Doctor actually accept it ruins the episode.
