Donna Hay is joined by her little helpers, Jimmy and Sarah, as they get set to host the ultimate backyard movie night. Its packed with healthy change-ups of everyone's favourite cinema snacks.

Donna Hay takes the kids surfing! In between catching waves, Donna demonstrates how to make nutritious and delicious recipes for an action-packed day at the beach.

As the mother of two boys, Donna Hay is super excited to be hosting an all-girls sleepover for a change. Donna and her little friends make easy pizzas at home and the girls mix fudgy chocolate pudding cups that are ready in a flash.

An important part of getting ready for the day’s treasure hunt is making sure everyone has enough energy. Donna and her two helpers make bowls of pesto pasta with a twist - lots of broccoli and fresh herbs are the key ingredients, with punchy lemon and parmesan for flavour. Blitzed together and stirred through spelt pasta, the boys give it their tick of approval, as they sit down to eat and hatch a plan.

Donna and the girls, in their kitchen amidst the citrus trees, get busy making a lemony coconut and yoghurt cake. Everything can be mixed in just one bowl, so Lily and Maisie help with measuring the ingredients. Using Greek-style yoghurt and olive oil ensures the cake will be lovely and moist, while spelt flour and honey make for clever healthy change-ups. With the cake in the oven, Donna surprises the girls with a special visit to a beehive to taste some fresh-as-can-be honeycomb right from the source. They return to make a simple, summery coconut glaze for their cake.

After gathering cauliflower from the vegie patch, Donna and her helpers return to their outdoor kitchen under the big shady tree. They’re making everyone’s favourite - mac and cheese - with a healthy twist. Instead of a creamy white sauce, Donna trades up to a simple cauliflower puree, packed with goodness, plus she uses wholemeal pasta. Maddie and Oscar learn about fresh nutmeg and help to sprinkle the small dishes with cheese (while sneaking in a few tastes for good measure). As the little bakes are turning golden in the oven, it’s time to tend to the garden.

First things first, it’s time to make everyone’s favourite part of a Sunday lunch - dessert. Freya and Jayla help Donna make the pastry for their summer fruit tart. The food processor recipe means it’s a cinch to create, and Donna swaps in some wholesome spelt flour and coconut sugar. While the pastry chills in the fridge, the peaches are chopped and tossed with a few of Donna’s secret ingredients. Next up is rolling the pastry, sprinkling the almond meal and topping it with the summery fruit filling. The tart goes into the oven, and there’s just enough time to set up a few games in the garden in readiness for a day of fun in the sun.

What’s a bake sale without cupcakes? They’re everyone’s favourite, so Donna, Gracie and Natasha make a batch each, with various flavours of icing. They measure and whisk the simple mixture, divide it into paper cases and bake. While the cakes are turning golden and puffy in the oven, the girls head outside to make a sign for their stall. Donna then shows the girls how to make a lighter variation on classic buttercream, using cream cheese, ricotta, maple syrup and vanilla. Gracie flavours her quantity with raw cacao powder to make a chocolate icing. Spread onto the cooled cupcakes, Donna tops her icing with freeze-dried strawberries. A little taste test gets the tick of approval from the bakers.
