That was so much better than what I expected. I thought it was going to be another run-of-mill remake, but this was absolutely amazing. Cannot wait for more !
Very good start. Very intriguing as well. I'm interested in seeing how the rules/limitations work, the extent, or if there is any. How oddly awesome would it be if all the legends are merely just that? And Dracula is just pretending that some of them actually work, to trick everyone, and in reality, none of them do. He does seem extremely intelligent and cunning, so that wouldn't be too far-fetched. But as interesting as that would be, I highly doubt it. It seemed like he did require an invitation to come in. I'm also interested in seeing the extent of Dracula's capabilities. Wow, so much intrigue, so much enthrallment.
The first half was great. The second half... I don't even know what that was.
This is classic Moffat though, with his shocking revelations, seemingly profound yet cringy one liners, underdeveloped characters with nonsensical motivations... the list goes on. He ruined Doctor Who with his massive ego and is the only reason why I'll never watch Sherlock. Someone's gotta tell him it's time to retire now.
If you’re going to retell a story that’s been told numerous times over, you don’t want to be doing it like this.
The characters are unlikable and weak, the plot is thinner than Johnny’s hair, and the jokes they’re trying to save it with are... well, an effort, I did chuckle a little toward the end scenes, but they’re not really saving it whatsoever. Mina and johnny’s weakness and stupidity also really grated my nerves.
It is a predictable and lacking story. Sad to see them fail this hard. Quite boring, in its entirety.
"Who are you.......?
Your every nightmare at once..... An educated woman in a crucifix"
Hahaha marvelous
Seriously? the nun, believes the cross is what made Dracula scream? I am pretty sure, that it's the reflected sunlight is what hurt him. They already established that his kind is immune against religious iconography o_O
this to me feels like the more definitive live action story to the Brom Stoker's Dracula novel.
top notch performances from the main actors too!
10/10 I already watched all three episodes in one go. Wow best thing to come in 2020 so far...
This new iteration of the Dracula story doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table. I haven't found any of the cleverness or spectacle other people speak of. The first half is a tedious retelling of the story we know, the second part gives a bit more relief with the unbelieving nun but all-in-all it's more cliché than it should have been.
I'm curious to see if the next episodes are better... Somehow I doubt it and I fear it'll be more "strong women" against the "bloodsucking beastman" standing in front of a gate for 20 minutes. It could have been good, could have even been clever, but they think Elsa Van Helsing is clever so alas... But what would one expect from current-age BBC.
Not a fan of the Horror genre so i saw this with this trepidation.
Even though i was not a fan of the gory parts, i still was transfixed with the spectacle.
I'll watch the whole season bit by bit, during the day. Definitely not going to be a night watch! :p
I love Dracula but I was surprised how much I enjoyed this version…. Looking forward to the next episode!
Not very into it but I'll give it another chance. Let's see what Episode 2 brings.
I was really excited about this version. But except for a few laughs, I found the first one predictable and boring.
Claes Bang does a good job. But the story, as it was told, does not make me horny.
Pretty good fun, although it suffers from how cheap it all feels. The final 15 minutes went a bit off the rails. I did like Agatha the sarcastic nun.
Interesting how Dracula is supposed to recognise the accent of Agatha van Helsing as Dutch even though she is so very clearly speaking with a thick German accent. The Netherlands is still not a province of Germany, people.
Not bad liked it very much 8/10
Really enjoyed the first episode, creepy but also gas some funny bits

Holy hell! Now, that was an excellent way to start the new year! Gripping, bloody, frightening... What a ride!
This episode was spooky in the most serious possible sense of the word.
The actor playing Count Dracula is wonderfully charismatic and oozes just the right amount of creepiness and sassiness. Considering the similarities between the characters, Dracula makes Lucifer from Lucifer look like just a cheeky teenager.
The overly sarcastic nun, as uncharacteristic as she is, clashes perfectly with the Dracula persona and I'm eager to see more of those two together on screen. She's a nun with balls, so of course she had to be a Van Helsing (unexpected delightful twist, by the way). Hopefully, that will help her not getting killed anytime soon.
Good old Johnny boy was a decent lad till the very end, may God have mercy on his tortured soul.
I honestly did not expect this premiere to be this good! Heck, I wasn't expecting to kick-off the new year by already rating an episode with a full round 10! But this episode truly deserves all the praise I can give it.
The worst thing about this show is that it's supposed to be a mini-series, so this season will probably be all that we get. But, judging by this introductory episode, we sure are getting it good!
Can't wait to see who and what Dracula will be up to next!
