This saga starts off pretty slow but once they're at the planet Namek it starts to carry all the excitement of the previous 2 sagas and it keeps on expanding on the lore quite well. It's filled to the brim with the darkest moments so far in the Dragon Ball franchise thanks to the introduction of Frieza and his men. We get to learn a bit about Vegeta's past and he also never fails to be amusing I can see why he's such a big favorite among fans. A big plus is that Krillin and Gohan get to have extra time in the spotlight thanks to the fact that Goku is still on his way towards the planet so we only get to see him training on his ship. The majority of the newly introduced villains are memorable with Frieza being set up as the new Big Bad. I can't say much about Frieza here though since we see little of him but he leaves a very threatening impression. It's incredibly amusing how terrified Frieza's henchmen are of him. If I had to say anything negative it'd be that it takes a while for the action to begin but that's fine with me, the episodes where they're just searching for the Dragon Balls remind me a lot of the original series.

Oh man this is where it starts to hit you...these fillers are just so boring. None of them were honestly exciting and they just end up making me want to go to sleep. I guarantee by the end of this saga the fillers will just leave you wondering "No one is more useless than Bulma...", you'll be wishing she'd have just taught Krillin and Gohan how to fly the ship and left her behind. The very few of Chi-Chi that we see is quite annoying as well if you ask me. Honestly since almost all of the filler episodes feel lacking in charm it just becomes painfully obvious that they're just stalling for time. The only thing I liked was seeing Piccolo, Tien, Chiaotzu and Yamcha spar with each other while on King Kai's planet.
Capt. Ginyu Saga: Ep 60 - 74
Short saga but I actually found it to be quite a fun one. Despite being just 14 episodes long it's very memorable thanks to the arrival of the Ginyu Force. This crazy Super Sentai parody group never fails to be amusing, especially with their bizarre poses. It's also thanks to them that the heroes actually end up teaming up with the likes of Vegeta which is just as awesome as it sounds. Goku finally arrives on the planet and he immediately starts giving us great action and it's incredibly amazing to see him defeat characters as if they were just insects. Unfortunately he ends up being the victim of a body swap and that leads to quite an interesting bit where we see Captain Ginyu use Goku's body, it's like seeing what Goku would be like if he never got a head injury. Once again Vegeta's probably my favorite character here, just seeing him toy with opponents and get more arrogant with every second not to mention he's the only character that actually tries to get enemies permanently out of the way, I'd even say he has more epic moments than Goku in this saga. Besides the very first episode it's pretty much non-stop action that thankfully still manages to have the side characters in the spotlight, we even get to see Frieza get out of his chair and fight.

Just one....and it just had to be a Bulma centered episode...all you really get is to hear Bulma whine over and over. Thank goodness it's just one episode.
