Only watched the first season so far, and it's hooked me enough to watch season 2. While watching, I kept comparing this with Netflix's Sex Education, and how Euphoria is SO much better. One of the things that I appreciate the most about this show is that it is "inclusive" in the sense of showing different types of people, but it does so in a rather natural way, you don't feel like they're shoving a "moral message" down your throat, and even if all of the characters face their own demons, they (the show) certainly avoided falling into that "I'm a victim" culture that's so present nowadays. Acting and direction are top notch, making it an overall really solid show

Eh. This is an extremely well produced show and well acted for the most part. However, I just was not very interested in the story or the characters. It's good, I just don't think it's really my thing. I'll watch the specials then decide if I want to continue into season two whenever that comes out.
The way this show is filmed is so beautiful and gorgeous, but I think it was all wayy too overwhelming for me. The fact that it’s so heavy all the time with little to no high points pretty frustrating. I just ended up watching a 5 minute YouTube recap of the second season.
this show has one big problem. It gives you storylines that are interesting, that have potential to be a 10/10, but then it fucks up every single one of them. Like fr i have seen this 1000 times now in Euphoria.
It starts good, gets shit, then makes a last minute turn to amazing again so yall keep it as amazing in your heads.
Also a very big problem are the sex scenes. I aint got nothing against a well placed sex scene, but they do it every 10 seconds so the teens keep watching, and at the worst times ever. This goes for violence and gross stuff too btw.
I am just really disappointed tbh, cuz so far, this could have been a 9/10 at least, but it really fucked up every single character at least once writing-wise.
Conclusion: is ok
Very enjoyable season of television. The acting is great, and the direction and cinematography are fantastic for a TV show. It's very much a more mature, well-done version of shows such as 13 Reasons Why (gross), in which we see teenagers struggling through high school while dealing with sex, drugs, and all the rest of it. Zendaya was fantastic in her role, and it's definitely the best work I've seen from her. I wasn't so keen on the ending. The last episode, along with episode 6 had too much weird stuff and time-jumping going on for me. Made it a little hard to keep up. The finale also didn't really give as much resolution to certain main plot points as I'd have liked. But overall, this is definitely a show worth watching. It's very well executed, and I'm excited for a second season.
Brilliant first season. Will be honest, it took a while for me to get adjusted to the series, a lot of nudity which is normal for HBO however this got closer to reality considering its adolescents discussing adult content. A critic I follow called this Paul Thomas Anderson's version of My So-Called Life, that's pretty much what this is and it's amazing. The focus of one character per episode is interesting and I don't think it'll be a necessary tool considering that "Shook Ones, Pt. II" is a brilliant episode of TV (would've been on my list for 2019 if I had caught it in time). And I think this was mostly due to creator Sam Levinson still trying to figure out what made this show tick, and his visuals do most of the work in the elements of the series I didn't care for (some of it's disturbing while others are truly mind bending and deserve to be looked at by film scholars). Zendaya definitely deserved her Emmy, this series wouldn't be as emotional without Rue's narration. The supporting cast is phenomenal as well, Hunter Schafer and Eric Dane stood out to me but everyone in this deserves awards recognition (perhaps the SAG awards should nominate this when S2 comes out).
Anyways, this also makes HBO the best place for content (and I say HBO not HBO Max, won't get too much into the difference) along with Succession show some of the best storytelling is on TV not on film.
