Great series!
I really enjoyed Gabe's and Helen's relantionship, I felt it was a great representation of second chances, and I particularly liked how they handled their feelings with and towards each other. Gabe was just a great character: understanding and non-judgemental. Also, the way they portraited the relantionship between foster and biological parents, and the child, especially since it's a teenager, was amazing.
Phillip and Lukas were a treat to watch as well. Interesting to see the struggles of Lukas, who had an homophobic mentally, and the acceptance, patience and pain of Phillip as they went throught discovering how much they liked each other, while having to deal with a murderer on their shadow at the same time.
Finally, the connection and understanding between Helen and Ryan was also intriguing! How close the situations and feelings were, but how their handling them led them in completely different paths.
I highly recommend it as I believe it is a very good representation of issues that arise in modern society.
10/10
I'll start by giving my rating to this series - 5.5 (fair-ish), out of 10, . My issue with it is, that despite a good premise, the storytelling is sloppy, disregarding authenticity, pace or character development. This is compounded by the direction of the series, situations are forced on characters without attention given to motivation or internal struggle. What kept me watching it, despite it's shortcomings, was Julianne Nicholson and the young Tyler Young. Both seem to have cobbled together characters despite the lack of support of script or direction. Also, the series is filmed in Canada (Yay Canada!) and uses Canadian supporting cast (it was good to see Gil Bellows, although his character was so strained by the lack of attention of the storytellers or the Director, that he came off rather creepy, rather than as the emotional stability for the lead character, and the hope for the future of the young lad, which I believe was meant to be the role of his character. The writer's preoccupation with sex (for rating purposes or out of personal lasciviousness, I'm not sure which) was awkward, the whys and hows were never allowed to resonate, and contributed to the disconnect of the actors with their role . This series is rated TV-14, for it's sexual situations, violence and language.

Definitely in love with this show! It represent in the best way murders and violence explaining characters' feelings as well. It's a sin there has been only 10 episodes. Outstanding cast.
