The short cut scenes in this episode make it much less funny. Glad that in the later scenes these scene get extended to sometimes what feels like 5 minutes.

This was a revelation back in 1999! The fast paced and risque humour really made an impact and felt new. My friends and I would watch these early episodes repeatedly. Interesting how tame it feels watching it now, but most of the jokes do still land (the Philadelphia one is still great). The animation looks rough but it has charm.

Stewie steals the show, something still true today. It's funny seeing Quagmire and Cleveland as completely undeveloped background characters. And not a hint of what Meg would become!

I have to say though, there are a lot of gags which I still don't get here since I'm not familiar with a lot of the American references (the Kool Aid Man, etc.).

This is a great pilot. A lot of good laughable random jokes. Damn i miss the first seasons.

Death Has a Shadow (1999)

Mr. Weed: Griffin! Are you sleeping on the job?

Peter Griffin: No. There's a bug in my eye and I'm trying to suffocate him.

I'd say great pilot, doesn't live up to the mini-clips I've been watching on Youtube Shorts (those got me hooked on the show) but in general it's great for 1999-ish humor.
