Fargo: Season 2

2x04 Fear and Trembling

Script is awesome. BSO is awesome. The starting scene with the flashback in the cinema, Lou's dialogue at Ed's living room about the looks. Superb.

"Fear and Trembling is a philosophical work by Søren Kierkegaard.

Kierkegaard wanted to understand the anxiety that must have been present in Abraham when 'God tested [him] and said to him, take Isaac, your only son, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering on the mountain that I shall show you.' Because he kept everything to himself and chose not to reveal his feelings, he 'isolated himself as higher than the universal.' "

“Fear and Trembling” is another mediocre episode of season two. While the material involving The Gerhardts and Kansas City was pretty enjoyable, Peggy and Ed’s scenes are repetitive and stale, with Kirsten Dunst’s terrible performance becoming unbearable to watch. As with the previous episodes, poor editing is prevalent in this one, with unnecessary split screens and usage of flashbacks that highly detract from my overall immersion.

Overall, this is a mixed bag of an episode that could have been a lot better, in my opinion.

Mid episode. It has a couple of good scenes like ~the one with Lou talking about the looks~ and ~the meet between the gerhardt and the Kansas man (can't remember the name)~ but on the other hand it has another ones EXTREMELY convenient to the plot like the little investigation hold by Hanzee. Come on man, it must be the quickest search ever, he NEVER looked in a wrong spot and moreover, he found things not even the cops had found. The legend says Sherlock Holmes took classes with Hanzee. The final is solid though and it compensates a little but in general the downs outweigh the ups in this episode.
