I always enjoy episodes where Frasier gets his knickers in a twist over some minor obsessive detail that he’d take a nanosecond to observe and treat in a patient.

Here it’s nothing less than his own mortality (which is not an unreasonable thing to freak out over at least once in your life - it shows you’re paying attention!) that he can’t get head shiny head around.

The climactic scene sees a rare moment where he dishes out exactly the right words at the right time; reassuring one grieving woman and earning a date from another mourner.
And he treats himself to a little smile - ironically proving the own point he claimed not to believe moments earlier.

Frank Turner explains what he thinks Life is about in his song I Knew Prufrock Before He Was Famous... giving detail to Frasier’s thoughts,

”Life is about love, last minutes and lost evenings.
About fire in our bellies and furtive little feelings.
And the aching amplitudes that set our needles all a-flickering.
And help us with remembering that the only thing that’s left to do is live.”
