Without competition one of the best story and character developments in anime, there are no filler nor unnecessary scenes and the 64 episodes are executed really well, the pace if flawless and the characters are the soul of the show. Definitely deserves to be in top 2 in MAL. Although this isn't my favourite anime of all time, deserves to be in my top 5/10.

Even if you aren't a fan of anime, I recommend giving this one a shot, the first few episodes are really interesting, the middle episodes leans more onto developing for a far satisfying ending and the last 20 episodes are one of the best running episodes of all time in my opinion.

This is a masterpiece. Simple as that. Definitely in my top 3-5 animes of all time. This show has everything (comedy, romance, drama and, of course, tons of action). You fall in love with all of the characters and every side story and character really gets developed over 64 brilliant episodes. Don't think. Just watch.

Best anime ever. Even if you're not that much of an anime watcher, you must see this!

Not only is this one of the best anime shows ever made, it's arguably one of the best animated shows ever made. It has everything, it's accessible, it never drags but it doesn't feel too short. This is both an excellent introduction to anime for newcomers and something even the weebiest will still love.

If anyone were to ask me what anime they should watch first, I'd tell them Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood every time. It's got something in it for everyone, action, drama, intense and detailed plot, great characters, it's easier to think of things it has than what it doesn't. Both the English dub and the subtitled Japanese version are great performances. This is definitely a must watch for anyone who wants to call themselves an anime fan.

Extremely overrated series.

If you find yourself pondering if there's something wrong with you for finding it mediocre then the answer is: no! It's an unpopular opinion, but valid all the same. If you're +10% into the series and it doesn't draw you in just drop it and save yourself the waste of time, go watch something that actually feels compelling.

I love this show! It was much better than the original because it was just so much more interesting and i loved the characters that weren't present in the other one.

Aside from a couple of misguided filler episodes, this is the closest thing to what I could call a perfect show. Just an excellent, well-planned story that only gets better and more investing with every episode. The only consistently distracting thing I can think of is the slightly out-of-place cartoony humour at times, but in a series this dark some levity is appreciated.

It's pretty noteworthy that this series exists at all, as this manga already had an adaptation that spiralled into a non-canon mess. Incredibly this one-ups Dragon Ball Kai by being a ground-up remake instead of a re-edit, and I think this formula needs to be implemented to save other anime that have been destroyed by greedy producers and horrible padding (cough cough NARUTO).

But that's all I can say as far as recommending it, please just skip episodes 1 and 27 and otherwise go in totally blind. It'll be worth your while.

Pretty great anime if you ask me! It's #1 on MAL, but for me, I don't think it's the best anime ever created! One thing pulled me from giving this a 10. Which is the obscurity and non-immersiveness I felt sometimes. Sometimes you feel like nothing but a spectator, unlike other animes where they explain the laws early one to engage you in the thought process, FMA didn't do that well. They reach a situation where you think it's a pinch and it's hard to get out from (which is great for suspense in an anime). But when they solve it by inventing a new law, you're kept wondering how was that possible in the first place. they've done this quite a few times especially towards the ending. So yeah! A solid 9. Good story, good script, good animation (most of the time). But the fact that it leaves you hanging with unanswered questions. I don't like that. And not the artistic hangs wherein it purposefully leaves you hanging, nope, questions that have answers, but elsewhere in forums and Wikis.

I adore FMA, but I think a lot of the more melodramatic elements in this adaptation really weaken the overall tenor of the experience for me.

I now know why so many people hold this series in such high regard. Personally, I found the humour a bit clashing with the rest of the series, and some of the logic behind the alchemy in the final few episodes felt underexplained, but overall I found it really enjoyable.

Obviously I‘m here alone with my opinion but I don‘t think this is the „best anime“ which phrase is often used. I‘m disappointed… I had better expactions of this anime.

First of all I watched the old version first and I‘m glad I did. The older version was really good till… I think everyone knows what I mean. The end of the 2003 anime was not satisfying but till that it was a good anime with love in the detail.

And that’s what I kinda missed here. The love.
I had to compare the two versions even though I know they have totally different directions.
I think you can see an example in the episode where the Elric brothers enter the labour. In the 2003 version they made two episodes about it and here it was kinda rushed. That’s what I mean with the missing love in the detail..

This version is good 7/10 but I gave a 7 already to the 2003 version so I had to give this a good 6.

The pain of loosing someone if you can endure that pain. You can overcome from any pain of the world. Heart made Full Metal - Edward Elric

Having watched the original fullmetal alchemist first, I can easily say that this series was far superior. The graphics were just a slight bit better, the pacing was a little bit faster, and most importantly, the ending wasn't some incredibly rushed, hot garbage.

I'd go as far as to say, you only really need to watch FA: Brotherhood. But when I say that, know that I mean, you absolutely need to watch this Anime. It has incredibly cool world-building and the plot is ever-twisting and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
