So so good and so so funny. You get such pure, distilled Zapp Brannigan here, in all his self-aggrandizing, romantically confused, all-too-confident idiot glory. That enough would make this a quality episode. But the war parodies are all superb (I'm a particular fan of the loving jabs at MASH); Fry's cowardice storyline is compressed but great for what it is; the Bender bomb plot is silly but just sturdy enough to carry the third act; Leela pulling a Mulan adds some fun to the proceedings, and god help me, all the sophomoric, testicle-based humor still tickles my funny bone. Throw in some random Kissinger humor, little touches like the ham gum coming back, and an ending that's appropriately cynical while still funny in that trademark Futurama way, and you have one of the all-time great episodes of the series.
