Ryota is an advertising man with a happy family life, but his wife, a famous food stylist, his wayward daughter and colleagues make life difficult for him. When his father ends up in the hospital, Ryota travels to his father’s village, where stories about the mythical Kuna awaken his interest.

Ryota does not dare tell his wife, Sae, that a contract has passed under his nose at work. He decides to see his father in Nagano and take his daughter Moe along with him. At the invitation of his father’s mysterious young friend, Naho, Ryota enters the forest for the first time.

Ryota finds an old notebook belonging to his father and discovers with surprise that the red bonnet he found in the forest looks like two drops of water similar to those worn by the Kuna fairies. He also finds out that his father and Osamu have both been linked to a woman named Kumi.

Eisuke regains consciousness, much to the relief of Ryota and those close to him. But the young woman suspected of being Eisuke’s mistress shows up at the hospital and ends up meeting the family. Meanwhile, while Osamu is in the forest, a shadow advances behind him…

Ryota returns to work, but even during the long-awaited filming of the commercial with Junji Takada, he cannot find his feet. He urges his subordinate, Sanada, “to find a sponsor for his father who would subsidize the hunt for the Kuna”.

Taking over from his father, Ryota struggles to make the Kuna hunt a success and interviews numerous witnesses. One of them then reveals a surprising truth to him about the Kuna’s red caps. Naho finds a trace of her missing husband.

As Eisuke prepares to return to Tokyo, Osamu reveals his suffering to him and asks him to “never come back”. As the whole family reunites to celebrate Eisuke’s release from hospital, Ryota learns that his father has purchased land in Nagano and fails to contain his anger.

Sae also arrives in Nagano. As preparations for the Kuna hunt progress happily, Takiko, Ryota’s older sister, runs away. Touched by the bond between Ryota and his family, Naho finally decides to visit her missing husband.

The night before the event, discovering that his little red beanie is likely an authentic Kuna beanie, Ryota suddenly becomes impatient for the Kuna hunt to begin. Then on D-Day, an unexpected incident occurs around the trap he had set up.
