“Book ‘em Danno.” CBS revives and modernizes their hit cop drama Hawaii Five-O. Season 1 follows Navy Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett as he comes to Hawaii to investigate the death of his father and accepts the governor’s proposal to lead a special new crime task force. Starring Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, and Grace Park, the show has a strong cast and features an impressive list of guest stars, including William Sadler, James Marsters, Taryn Manning, Kelly Hu, and James Remar. And the chases and fight scenes are exciting and action-packed. However, the cases get a bit formulaic after a while and the dialog can get bogged down in exposition at times. Still, the writers do a good job at developing the characters and making them three dimensional. Successfully reviving the franchise, Season 1 of Hawaii Five-O is entertaining and full of thrills.
