This story takes place in a large hospital, where two doctors with very different personalities go head-to-head. Newcomer Shima is a competent surgeon known for his superb skills, despite being only in his twenties. Shima is a doctor who doesn’t believe in prolonging the life of patients when they don’t have a chance. During operations, he plays reggae music on the stereo. However, the lively personality he once had disappears after an incident where he is forced to take the fall for another doctor’s malpractice. Ishikawa, who once lived in the US, is an equitable man who does all he can to drive Shima out of work. He garners much respect from patients and nurses alike. Needless to say, his skills as a surgeon are top-class. The story unfolds as the two protagonists, with their contrasting personalities, go at it day in and day out. This medical drama is known as Koki Mitani’s breakthrough work.
