I can't help but feel that HoW really stalled in season 4. It's a season that kills characters and doesn't really develop any new ones and certainly lacks the sense of history in the making of the previous seasons.
The longer the writers dwelled in Cheyenne, the more lost they got.
I´m probably one of the few who don´t like it but that is how it is. I watched 24 episodes and, with very few exceptions, struggled through every one of it. And the more I watched the less I cared. Would have loved to see more of the "unprecedented engineering feat". Instead for me this is a soap wrapped in a western setting with the building of the transcontinental railroad in the background. None of the characters were interesting enough to keep me watching. There is nothing unique about them, they seem to be picked from different shows and just put in period clothes.
On the plus side the atmosphere is right. It´s dark, gritty, at times brutal. In that regard it is believable. Not enough.

I haven't turned off any shows in the past. But after 15 minutes of this I had enough. Don't know, acting felt to soft for this kind of show.. Should I try episode 2 ?
Definitely going to watch this as it goes into its second season.
One of the best shows ever made, keeps you hooked right up till the end.
I just ended this show for the second time and I have to say I enjoyed it more than the first time. This show is on my top 5 of all time and Cullen Bohannon is one of the greatest characters ever. Great performances, great characters, amazing script and a solid story. You never have the impression that they don't know where they are heading to (unlike most of the actual shows). The showrunners have everything under control and the show lasts what it should, no more, no less. For me it's a 10. I'll watch it again for sure.
So this is a strong series. S1,2 & 3 are really strong. However S4 slows down significantly, S5 picks up rather quickly, and the finale is solid. The only weak part of this series is Season 4. But ill leave that to you to decide. I still would recommend watching this series, because it seems very accurate and detailed.
This was a pretty good western show, but didn't reach potential. Anson Mount carried the show though and fit the character perfectly. I'm not sure this show really knew what it wanted to be since it wraps up the first/main story half-way through and then changes the character's motives for the future. It's a bit weird and gets to be a bit of a drag in later seasons. If you enjoy Westerns though, definitely check this show out.
looks like it really is the end of 'hell on wheels' this season. seeing as how the lead characters are getting killed.
Only started watching this yesterday, no clue why I haven't watched it yet as it is amazing! By far one of my favorite shows set in the past.
Sucks it's getting cancelled
One of the best series you can watch on TV. Go watch it.
Excellent series !
I'm a bit sad that the 5th season will be the last but damn had they have a great run so far, so why not go out on a high note. Beside that, they have to finish that damned railroad sometime anyway, right? Looking forward to that season and how they will "tie it all up".
I like that show from Episode to Episode more and more.
And Colm Meaney is great!
Yeah that's ok. Clearly deadwood-inspired but it doesn't even come close to Deadwood's quality. Watchable, though.
HOW CAN YOU NOT WATCH THIS SHOW!!!! THIS DUDE IS HOT!!!!!
"AMC’s ‘Hell On Wheels’ Renewed For Fourth Season With 13-Episode Order".
Hell's-fuckin-yeah! :D
Daaaaaaamn fine start into season 3 but is it really only going to last 6 episodes?!
That's a damn shame if you ask me, but on the other hand I guess we can be glad that we got a 3rd Season at all since it hung in limbo for quite some time...
Either way, glad it's back and hope they can keep it going that strong. :)
F*cking love the Swede, definitely my favourite character
it will be renewed for season 3 or not? Great season 2 finale!
I love this show, hate how it always gets compared to The walking dead & Mad men and viewed as slow.

Guys check out "Hatfields & McCoys" it's similar to "Hell on Wheels" but with Kevin Costner, brought by the history channel network.
(started last Monday)
I'm glad to hear it has a renewal. A must watch for me.

Interesting new series :) Very nicely shot (gritty and real), top notch acting and so far a pretty interesting storyline.

Definately love the level of detail they put into this show.. Also love the era, comes close to 'deadwood'
