As horrible as that final season was, at least they did what was promised and gave it no happy endings (except for Shelley). Olivia's closing was terrific.
Well, that's one way to end a series...kill off all the major characters. Can't say I was sad to see half of them go - their characters devolved over the season. Pryce was the saddest - I liked getting to know his character more and his death was pointless. The 'newly found long lost daughter' was a waste of script. And it was depressing to watch Roman, who fought so long to be nothing like his mother, become his mother. The final confrontation with the 'big bad' was a let down but even considering all of these faults, I rather enjoyed this season (much better than season 2 at least)
Well, that was fun.
We'll always have that amazing first season.
I kind of liked they way that each character received fitting punishments for their crimes. Shelley never hurt anyone that didn't deserve it, so she was spared. Peter was weak not to admit what he'd done to her fiancé and led his cousin (his only real friend) to being killed, then he was incompetent in getting rid of Roman and got to live the rest of his days as a mad beast (regardless if he'll eventually manage to become human again like Christina). Roman gave in to both his nature and nurture and became the same as his mother, which in turn got what she deserved after so long. Lest we forget, Pryce's ironic ending at the hands of yet another of his unethical experiments was the cream of the crop.
The last season had already been disappointing but I still had hope that this arch would eventually pick up. Spivak's storyline ended up meaning nothing more than a trope that almost didn't influenced the main storyline: Shelley's first boyfriend. Seriously though, that was another wasteful storyline that barely interacted with the other characters. Olivia and Pryce were interesting enough but Roman and Peter were mere shadows of their former selves, meaning a weaker cast overall to match the even weaker plotline.
At least Shelley survived and for that I'm grateful.
I wish there had been more of a redemption arc to the final season.

Every single main character apart from Shelley died (or will die in Peter's case)? Honestly this entire season was atrocious with a very thin overarching plot, loss of any character development of most characters (apart from Shelley and Pryce who were the only two to grow at all) and the destruction of one of the main pros of the entire series - the relationship between Roman and Peter. I don't know who signed off on this but this season was a mess of nonsense, incest and meaningless death. 90% of the actions and conversations were completely unnecessary and this was a horrible way to wrap up the story. It's like the writers just gave up as soon as they knew it was the last season.
