An absolutely fantastic series with a wealth of imaginative and breath taking fantasy elements not only beautifully drawn, gorgeously animated but also wonderfully written as well. Mixes fantasy and mystery together brilliantly while also understanding the variety of tropes being used and how to subvert and/or execute them effectively.
quite an incredible series!
works very well for kids, has quite a few hidden gems for adults' amusement, animation is understated with a number of very surprising but subtle details that completely transforms it into a work of art.
If you like some good fun, casual fantasy, adventure, and lovable characters, then this is your jam. The story and world-building are easy to understand but fair from simple. The art style is absolutely lovely and fluent as well with there always being something in the background to explore. I hope they can make more of this series, maybe telling other stories or skipping ahead in time.
Really adorable show, I love how pure Hilda is. Animation and voices are also dope
This animation is awesome! I really hope they would make another season or even a movie! The animation is awesome and well done. The plot was always interesting. Voice acting was definitely on point. I definitely enjoyed this animation!

Hilda is a really solid animated series! The comparisons to Gravity Falls are apparent, although I personally prefer this show over it; where that show focuses more on the dark comedy and Disney humor of myths and legends, Hilda has a much more cozy, gritty, and emotional vibe to the story it sets out to tell. Both Bella Ramsey and Daisey Haggard perform incredibly well, in what is centrally a narrative involving the bond of a mother and daughter growing in this modern fantasy world. And while I do think certain characters don't get the screentime and development they deserve, the story is more about Hilda, the world around her, and the friends she makes, so I can understand some of its shortcoming.
Oh, and of course, shoutout to the absolutely immaculate soundtrack, filled with both ethereal compositions and indie songs, doubling down hard on the coziness and beauty of the world that Hilda builds.
The only thing that really stops me from appreciating this show fully, although not the fault of the direction, is the unfortunate scheduling and pacing of its releases over time. It took nearly 6 years to get 3 seasons and a movie. Had this not been a somewhat-serialized series, this wouldn't have bothered me. But going into Hilda and the Mountain King and the final season following it, I had forgotten about certain characters and events before it; the finale itself fully tying things together for elements in the show that I had a tough time remembered a year or so ago.
To this point though, Hilda is absolutely a show worth binging from beginning to end. You'd enjoy it a whole lot more in that light.
Hilda’s a masterwork of fairy tale whimsey and danger, with visuals that delight the eyes and characters that’ll win your heart. Hilda and Johanna, and their relationship, are particularly affecting, with arcs that bubble through the entire series in surprising and compelling ways. I’ll miss it terribly and revisit it often, I have no doubt
I have written it and I maintain it is the best anime series I have seen in this genre... I could say, colors, shadows and the story is great.
Very much appeals to Gravity Falls fans, such as myself. It has a very similar cadence to Season 1 of Gravity Falls but much better writing (not nearly as funny though, and not as good as S2 of Gravity Falls). My wife and I think of it sort of as Gravity Falls, but with the vibe of Adventure Time. It's very chill, the characters are all upbeat and positive, and the writing is solid. There are a lot of creative concepts and, while the show is definitely not a mystery show, the atmosphere has a good mysterious feel to it, like you have no clue what exact dangers lurk beyond the city walls. Some standout characters for me were Victoria von Gale, Wood Man (who clearly has some Zelda inspiration), and Hilda's mom.
If you like Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, you're going to have a good time here. It's a very cozy show.
If you’re a fan of shows like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls then Hilda will no doubt be the best show to watch as it’s incredibly charming, well written, and beautifully animated. Even the problems I do have with the show are only limited to nitpicks because the show is truly amazing in how it handles its story in each and every episode.
Can't wait for more seasons. I will definitely come back to re-rate it but as of now I am not nearly as attached to the characters as I'd hope to be, but amazing art and cute stories all around!
I had dropped this show for a while, because the first few episodes did not hit for me. I ended up coming back eventually and really enjoying it! Once the scope of the world pulls out a bit, and you start getting characters returning and things, it's great.
This show is three seasons and a movie of bliss. Watch it with your family and enjoy Hilda's adventures.
