Dean and Susanne cover the construction of a new home from the initial planning stages. They cover the decision making process when looking for a lot, finding a plan, and selecting a builder.

Dean and Susanne meet with a Kitchen and Bathroom designer to work on those areas of their plan. They also sign the purchase agreement for the house and start selecting materials.

Dean and Susanne cover the initial construction of the house starting with the footings and working up to the roof. They discuss different materials available for the foundation, the framing, and the sheathing.

Dean and Susanne compare different alternatives for the building products used on this house. These include windows, doors, shingles, drywall, insulation and venting.

The house starts taking shape with addition of siding on the outside, and drywall on the inside. Dean and Susanne discuss alternatives and compare prices on these two products, as well as heating and cooling systems.

The house has moved into its finish carpentry stage which includes the wood trim, interior doors and cabinets. Dean and Susanne focus on the many options and choices you have when selecting cabinets. They also show how to spot quality craftsmanship in cabinets.

With the exterior of the house almost complete, Dean and Susanne follow progress on the inside of the house. They show options you have in choosing fireplaces, stairways, floor coverings, and countertops.

Dean and Susanne wrap up the construction of this New House project. Some final fixtures and floor coverings are installed, they have a final walk-through, and they prepare for a photo shoot with Better Homes and Gardens.
