Canadians Bryce Nimmo and Kim Johnson are betting all their marbles on San Miguel, Mexico. They have sold their home in Calgary and all their shares in Bryce's business, to create a nest egg to last the rest of their lives, hopefully! Revising his expense spreadsheet on a daily basis, Bryce has come up with a number for what they can afford for a house. If they go over it, either they have to make it up somewhere else, or not live as long. While Bryce thinks if they are going to live in Mexico, they should live in a Mexican style house, Kim likes contemporary style and modern appliances, which doesn't exactly jive with Bryce's wish list. Planning on living out the rest of their lives there, they both want a house without stairs, but the style and the budget are TBD.

Sarann, Scott and their daughter, Ami, have moved from Seattle to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. They love the slower-paced, quiet beach life that they could not find in Seattle. But with no work available in Sihanoukville, they are running low on savings. Moving to Phnom Penh, where all the jobs are, was the only solution since they have no place to return to in Seattle. Sarann has decided to look for work as a teacher and have Scott stay home with Ami. Scott was the only one working in Seattle and is looking forward to this role reversal so he can create a closer bond with his young daughter.

Recently robbed in an overcrowded residential building, American John Munger must quickly find a new home in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With help from his girlfriend Mai and real estate agent David Murphy, John looks at apartments in three of Phnom Penh's market districts. The sounds of construction and the bustling crowds disguise the unique apartments several stories above the street. Munger has recently taken a cut in pay so budget is a prime concern. Location becomes a conflict with his girlfriend Mai who wants to find a place near her family's home. John wants to be close to work. But layout and interior features can also be a challenge in a market where kitchens don't have ovens, the refrigerator is in the living room and an unexpected gadget sits next to the washing machine.

The Hood family loves Portland, but when dad Luke's work proposes relocation to Penang, it's an offer this adventurous family can't refuse. Moving across the world with three young kids won't be easy. Luke wants the most authentic experience possible, including a hi-rise that's sure to tower over everything they're used to in Portland.
