I kind of hate this episode, it's so painful to watch and that "beat up by a girl" comment is stupid. But the side story with Robin is hilarious.

A fun episode. I liked how everyone in the episode's A-story, Ted reigniting his relationship with Natalie, had a clear point of view. Lily wanted honesty in break ups. Marshall argued that it was irrelevant because there were no bad break ups. And Barney was disgusting. Consistency! I also liked the subversion of the sitcom trope, that where Ted really was honest and forthright, it didn't make everything better; he just had to suffer for it and dug himself deeper each time he tried to explain. I wouldn't call it intricate storytelling so much, but there was more going on under the hood than it might seem.

The B-story with Barney giving Robin dares and her feeling invisible and unimportant was also fun, and had a nice subversion in and of itself. I had totally forgotten about the "grape fall" video that Robin's story apes at the end. It was fairly thin, but yet just as robust as it needed to be in showing Robin coming to the realization, rebounding from it thanks to the cab driver, and then getting noticed for unfortunate reasons all in minimal episodic real estate.

Ted was such a douche. I find it funny most of the time, though.
