One year later and it still stings. I can't believe they managed to ruin everything in 40 minutes. NO NO NO.

I didn't think I would cry, but I did. It has been more than a year since I'm starting watching HIMYM on Netflix, it became a routine and now this is over. I really didn't expected this end, finish the show exactly how it started is genius . But I have to say that giving up on everything that has been built (in the previous seasons) in only 2 episodes may be regrettable… Gosh I'm gonna miss this show. Thank you Carter Bays and Craig Thomas for given us the opportunity to meet "the gang"

Well, in my view, the problem in the ending is not that Ted ended up with Robin. The problem is that creators did not encourag viewers to like this couple.

I couldn't begin to address this in even 10% of the detail that @andrewbloom did (https://trakt.tv/comments/95997), and there's no reason for me to try. But at the same time, I would be remiss to simply skip commenting altogether.

There is a reason that this episode earned the lowest (as of today) IMDB rating of the entire series. It is deeply unsatisfying in so many ways despite also featuring some of the best footage we ever see of Ted and Tracy, which blows my mind.

Supposedly—obviously, really—the last scene with Ted's teenage kids calling him out on the story's true subject was filmed during the show's second season. If the writers and creators really, truly felt like they had to use that footage somehow, I feel sorry for them. The stories they produced over the following seven years took the characters and their relationships in a fundamentally incompatible direction, and I'd go so far as to say that twisting all of that back into an ending that had been planned from almost the very beginning was the real final slap—not the one at Barney's wedding.

How I Met Your Mother but want to bone Aunt Robin.

I used to hate this finale but now I’ve realised it’s actually amazing. Or it would be if he didn’t run back to robin at the end. The episode should have ended exactly 18:15, it’s a really conclusive ending and it wraps up everything until the very end where he ruins everything. I don’t mind that the mother died, it was really emotional, I don’t even mind Barney and robin got a divorce because Barney got an amazing ending. But why’d Ted have to go do the same shit at the end, it’s like ending it on the perfect note showing us the journey ted had to go through to achieve everything he’s ever wanted, and a minute later taking that from us by showing he hasn’t really changed and then they leave us on what’s basically a cliff hanger. Other than that though the show has a really unique style of story telling and I’m glad I spent the last few weeks of my life binging it for what was probably the 4th or 5th time. I found my self crying more than I’d like to admit. Mostly at how much they fucked up the ending.

Can't believe this is how it ends. They can give it a nice ending much much better than this. After watching this i felt like i wasted my time on this show

9 seasons of character development, showing Ted's journey of getting over Robin to meet his true love (the mother) are undermined by this episode.

As much as I hate to say this I really just expected more, I expected the final episode of this show to ask (and perhaps even answer) some deep philosophical questions about the meaning of love and life and this would have certainly been possible with all the interesting and unique characters in that show.

But in the end it's just 9 seasons of showing why Ted and Robin could never possibly work just to then have them come back together in the end.

(Note: Earlier, in season nine, Robin even said that she doesn't love Ted)

It just begs the question... what is the point?

I will really miss pressing the "next episode" button 23 times a day. I was nearly gonna cry.

God , why that awful ending (last minutes(

Worst ending ever
When season 9 came out, I watch it to episode 12 and leave it.
one years later I decided to finish it.
But I can't believe I waste my time on this

Definitely agree with what people have said since the last episode aired, rubbish ending. Ruined the whole progression of the show.. especially the final season. They were building up to something great and pushed it down right in the last 10 minutes. Ouch.

WTF!!!! Why???? I'm so not OK now!

Simply the ending has left me broken. I watched it from start to finish with my partner and it's hard not to make comparisons, even though we see ourselves as Lily and Marshall hahaha but it's impossible not to compare to Tracy and Ted, that ending just left me broken. Even if you think you say it enough, say you love your partners even if you think you do enough, it will never be enough.

Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today, if you love her, marry her and give yourself and yours the gift of sharing what is possibly the greatest moment of your life.

Make your parents grandparents, make your grandparents great-grandparents if you can, make your siblings great-grandparents, you will always have time to do nothing, but you will never be young again. Fight for what you want and never let go.

It's never too late...

I don't mind the idea (I actually really like it) that Barney and Robin got divorced at the end there and that Barney's a father now but the last 2 and a half minutes are unwatchable. Maybe that's somewhat realistic irl but it doesn't belong in the last episode, especially last moments of the show. The only thing that I mind in the episode is that, everything else worked so well.

Totally hate it. Please don't watch the last episode
