I'm not the type that obsesses over animal welfare but when you think about it, the hatchery chicks can be viewed one of two ways: either really messed up, or metal as fuck. I mean, I get those workers probably handle hundreds of chicks every day and it'd get awfully monotonous quickly, but damn, they just fling the things into the chutes without a care in the world. That and the chicks seem to know that some type of doom awaits them as they try but fail to stay on the rollers.
