The Charlie with his Conspiracy board meeeeeeeemeeeeeeeeee!
[7.3/10] Another solid ep. The weakest story for me was Dee and Dennis trying to get fit using supplement and bootleg Mexican injections rather than actually exercising. While there’s some mildly amusing stuff there (mostly Dennis’s insistence on playing 1980s pop and his little dance), it just didn’t do much for me.
But hey! Now I finally get that persistent meme with Charlie and his Crazy Carrie Board! Watching Mac stumble around trying to be “The New Guy” at that office, while Charlie goes off the deep end with conspiracy theories based on the onslaught of mail he receives was a hilarious combo. And the two of them rocking out to “Lowrider” and the use of the song cue in the rest of the episode was inspired. Charlie Day in particular deserved Emmy consideration for his unhinged rant here -- just a surfeit of over the top comedy.
(As an aside, Charlie and Mac’s “what, no free healthcare? What is this some kind of communist dictatorship?” bit is strangely resonant nearly a decade later when the healthcare debate is still alive and well.)
And color me tickled at seeing Danny DeVito be the center of a One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest parody. It’s been too long for me to recognize whether he was able to lure any of his old co-stars to make the parody click, but it’s still funny seeing him in that setting again, as was his insistence on wearing a hospital gown to “let his ass breathe.”
Overall, an enjoyable episode of the show only brought down by the mildness of the Dennis/Dee storyline.
Ah, yes. The source of Conspiracy_meme.jpg
One of the most iconic episodes, with the most iconic scene from IASIP: the Charlie conspiracy meme
Overall just a hilarious episode
That ending was beautiful... FREEDOM! xD
