Judd For the Defense. Clinton Judd was a high-priced, high powered criminal attorney modeled along the lines of such real-life legal superstars as F. Lee Bailey and Percy Foreman. Based in Houston, Texas, he traveled all over the U.S. defending wealthy tycoons. Carl Betz won an Emmy and Golden Globe in 1968 for outstanding dramatic actor in this role. Even with this accolade, the show lasted only one more season, ending in 1969.

Crossover episode with Felony Squad and Judd for the defense. Stone and Briggs arrest African diplomat Nburu for attempted murder after he attacks fund-raising expert Charlie Finnerman. The more they investigate, they discover that the expert is a possible fraud. Criminal Lawyer Clinton Judd arrives to defend the diplomat on the charges, but matters turn worse when Nburu is found standing over the body of Finnerman, and Stone and Briggs wrestle Nburu down a flight of stairs, injuring him.

After his client Bruzzy Burke is convicted, Judd continues to work to try to appeal the conviction, even though he is fired by Bruzzy's millionaire father. His first step is to discredit the witness whose surprise testimony led to the conviction, and to use new witnesses---but one of them winds up dead.
