this was actually a pretty good episode and showed the JL in great standing! I really liked the character of John here and hoping savage returns in a future arc!
[7.2/10] I don’t really know what to do with this one. Our heroes jumping to a parallel universe dystopia where a supervillain has taken over is pretty standard stuff. Sure, it’s a little jarring to see an S.S. logo and have soldiers demanding to see people’s papers, but it’s not all that far removed from a similar trick in Superman: The Animated Series, even if the Third Reich parallels were more oblique than on the nose. Fascist dystopias are a currency for superhero shows.
But sending our heroes back in time to fight Nazis in World War II left me...queasy. The catch is that a lot of these characters’ histories are rooted in that era, so it’s natural to want to put them in that setting, even if it takes some time travel shenanigans to make it happen. That said, watching Vandal Savage lead the Nazis and use his power glove to fight good guys in a chamber with a frozen Hitler feels like too much to me.
That id, there’s some enjoyable stuff ehre. Watching a mechanical-suited Batman leading a resistance movement (replete with alternate universe Nightwing and Batgirl) feels nicely Dark Knight Returns. The giant, spiked wheel tanks that give the Axis the edge make for some cool set pieces. Alternate history shenanigans give the proceedings some juice, and the different settings give the animators leeway to stretch their wings a bit.
The best part, though, is Steve Trevor! I’ll admit that there’s a little more juice to seeing him here after having watched the recent Wonder Woman film, but it’s still nice to see the cocksure pilot proving his mettle in a cool aerial dogfight, being charmed by Diana, and having a naturally chagrined reaction to J’onn.
Overall, the whole idea of this one leaves me a little bit uneasy, but there’s some nice touches, and I’m curious to see how far the show will take its alternate history premise.

A great conclusion to a great arc (and the season).
Several other arcs could've used 3 episodes, but oh well. Glad this one got the time it deserved - we even get some great character moments near the end!
As with the rest of this show, it's well worth a watch.
