Featured U Kimura, a Japanese model talented at making handmade items! With her, we gave the “Handmade Fashion Item Contest” and announced the winners. As for the studio guests too, D-I-Y was the concept! Akiko Kaneko, an expert in sparkle deco and Rie Katayama, a specialist of wool deco were with us. We interviewed them to know the secrets to make the items on their own way and also provided the information where to buy the materials.

This time, we feature “Tips to become successful with Kawaii.” We welcome two famous kawaii leaders, a gyaru blogger Cheesie from Malaysia and a lolita model Rin Rin from USA, to our studio.

It is shop assistants who lead the latest trends and are the true fashion icons in Japan. Young girls often come to their shops just to see and talk with them, more than buying the items. Nowadays, some of them became the influential bloggers and even a singer! This time, we had these unique shop assistants from Shibuya and Shinjuku in our studio!!

In the episode of #5, we take a look at the Akihabara culture: Manga, Anime, Cosplay and so on, from a fresh point of view. That’s Kawaii angle! Akihabara culture, once known for Otaku or geeks, is recently supported by more and more ordinary girls who love fashion. Such subculture industry has even started to collaborate with trendy fashion brands!
One example, a famous high-fashion designer creates costumes for idols based in Akihabara! A top model for Harajuku-style fashion magazine unbelievably plays cosplay!

This time we have a special project for Kawaii International! We’re doing a collaboration with the German fashion TV show called “red!” Kawaii International is in charge of a project to transform the red! Our MC Melody Yoko, Gyaru leader Yunkoro and D.I.Y. master U Kimura give the Vietnamese girls’ makeover in Ho chi Ming, Vietnam! With the support of the local fashion TV program “PinkyTeen,” 31 (fashion) students get together in the studio! Yunkoro and U Kimura show the makovers they’d done to the girls at the studio and will be judged which style is more kawaii to the Vietnamese students!

As a response to the requests and questions from all over the world, here is the first “Kawaii Summit”!! Popular “DOKUMO (local models)” of Japanese fashion magazines gather in the studio and discuss about fashion, lifestyle, makeup, etc. The summit is open to the Kawaii fans in some other countries through the internet to ask whatever questions they have for the guests. “DOKUMO” are not really a professional model, actually students or shop girls, and originally the readers of the magazines. As semi-professional fashion leaders, they introduce their own fashion, makeup technique, and even private lives in magazines. The readers can relate to themselves more easily to the “DOKUMOs” rather than to the professional models.

1-Year Anniversary Tokyo Kawaii Tour!! This month, Kawaii International jumps out of the studio, and our MC girls go around Tokyo to see the Kawaii spots on the bus. Looking back at the previous episodes, they will visit the popular places according to the viewers’ choice, and introduce the unique experiences there with the Kawaii Experts in the previous episodes. The Kawaii master, Sebastian Masuda and NHK WORLD collaborated together. “TIME AFTER TIME CAPSULE” is a project that Sebastian Masuda is working on. It is a hands-on participatory art project where they exhibit the time capsule in different cities of the world, and asks the participants to write a message or put in what they think is a Kawaii item in 20 years. In this collaboration, Domo, a NHK character, shaped capsule appeared! We report how it was like at the event in Washington, D.C. in America.
