The 2nd Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on April 18, 1988, from the Conan Sword and Sorcery Spectacular Arena at Universal Studios Hollywood. This was the first event held under this title, and first to feature a live audience, as well as celebrity hosts and attendees, while the first Kids' Choice Awards occurred the previous year in 1987 as "The Big Ballot", and only featured taped segments linked together by it's studio hosts. Hosted by: Tony Danza, Debbie Gibson, Brian Robbins & Dan Schneider. Musical performances included: The Fat Boys ("Wipe Out") & Debbie Gibson ("Shake Your Love" and "Out of the Blue")

The 6th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on November 14, 1992, at Universal Studios Hollywood. The show honored the kids' favorites in movies, television, music, sports, and others from 1991. This would be the last KCA's broadcast until the 1994 Show, as the network didn't air the 1993 Kids' Choice Awards. Hosted by: Holly Robinson, Brian Austin Green & Tori Spelling.

The 7th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on May 7, 1994, at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, California and Universal Studios Florida. Hosted by Joey Lawrence, Candace Cameron, and Marc Weiner.

The 11th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on April 4, 1998, at Pauley Pavilion at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. Rap star Sean Puffy Combs became the latest recipient of Nickelodeon's highest honor, a sliming. Hosted by: Rosie O'Donnell

The 12th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on May 1, 1999, once again held at Pauley Pavilion at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. Britney Spears, TLC, and NSYNC performed live from Orlando, Florida. About 6.2 million children participated in voting. The ceremony is also notable as leading into "Help Wanted", the pilot episode and first airing of the now-long running animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. Hosted by: Rosie O'Donnell

The 13th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards was held on April 15, 2000, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, live on Nickelodeon, with around 17,000 in attendance at the venue. Over 15 million voters cast ballots for the ceremony, including for ten online-only categories. Hosted by: LL Cool J, Rosie O'Donnell, David Arquette, Mandy Moore & Frankie Muniz
