Legion: Season 1

1x01 Chapter 1

I'm already in love with this. The way it's shot and edited is goddamn amazing.

I don't do drugs, but after watching this episode, I'm not so sure anymore.

Wow the cinematography ! Sooo mindfuck, so good

I haven’t been as impressed yet discombobulated by a first episode as this one in years. Whoah. Legion, you have my attention.

I applaud this episode's creative use of structure, narrative and visuals to present something that feels quite unique. It's a bold move, but a risky one as it's chaotic to the extreme. Myself, I found Legion quite difficult to follow and that was a bit off-putting, but I did enjoy spending time with some of the characters. David is interesting and Aubrey Plaza is a welcome addition to any cast. It managed to build up to quite a tense ending, but that was then ruined by a laughably poor action sequence that was trying too hard.

At the moment, I'm not invested enough to really say whether this is going to become a show I'll enjoy, but right now I'll tune in for the next one.

This is going on my list of aesthetics. Beautiful shots there, especially toward the end, outside.

And wow I haven’t been under such tension for a while hour straight in a while. This is crazy amazing. Not sure something can keep this tension up, but then again that would probably be not too healthy. What a pilot!
Also, the soundtrack is pretty decent.

It’s beautifully shot, very trippy. The score was fantastic too. Noah Hawley is a great director.

Surprisingly a nice and very different pilot from other series to date. Taking a diagnosed-as-mentally-ill David Haller as the main character, we are brought to view the events unfold in the episode through the eyes of Haller himself: where reality bends with dreams, vaguely remembered memories, and hallucinations. The hallucination which might serve as an important plot point in the future, as Haller questions himself thorough the episode, is it really just a hallucination--suppressed with medication--or is it actually real?

The visuals and editing in this pilot episode makes us tread--and gazed--confusedly just as Haller experiences his life, until the final moment in the climax that everything suddenly becomes clear, in the same moment as Haller realizes what has caught into his life.

However, it should be noted that this might not be a pilot to watch if you're expecting a "superhero TV series" like Agents of Shield, as it's not readily obvious. It's what Noah Hawley (the director) wants to avoid: people who only watch this as such instead of focusing on the characters or story.

This is some crazy plot! Mesmerizing, no time to breathe, it keeps your head spinning. What a start to something that I can hardly imagine how it could evolve. What a fresh new infusion of the superhero universe.

really liked this pilot. well, at least the beginning. the end felt too much like every other cheesy superhero show. meh

That's one hell of a Pilot episode!

What an amazing opening. Everything of what @aniela-krajewska mentioned in https://trakt.tv/comments/113677 applies. I just hope they can keep up the momentum throughout the series...

The cinematography and way the story is told reminds me heavily of Memento. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

I doubt I'm going to bother with additional episodes... wasn't very engaging for it's extended runtime and it got quite laughable towards the end (couldn't it be more staged?).

Legion has a fairly solid pilot episode. It sets up just enough of the main character while also leaving some mystery to revealed later on in the series. The acting is great and the episode is very well directed. I'll be checking some more episodes.

Such and epic first episode. Shaping up to be one of the best series of the year

This is gonna be a fun show to rewatch. I don't recall for instance seeing the yellow eyed demon so much this early.

I was expecting mutant or superheroes. I've heard of Xmen legacy. How disappointing.
Only a mad man delusional in an asylum, more than an hourlong. Atmosphere is disturbing. More horror show than sci-fi.
Episode 1 is very long and very boring. Dancing scenes was so ridiculous.
If you like Marvel caractères run away.

I wasn't impressed by the pilot... the plot needs to improve a lot!

Quite good cinematography, but the plot..? Can this confusing mix of scenes / times / ... even be called "a story"?
Do you need to take drugs to watch/understand this?

loading replies

well, the plot is pretty intriguing, cinematography - impressive, colour coordination - actually pathological? and there's a smidgen of graphic violence that i certainly appreciate. the show doesn't seem to shy away from murdering people, that's for sure. i'm confused about how and at what point david and syd had switched back, but hopefully as a viewer i'm supposed to be and i didn't miss anything. so yeah i'm liking this so far.

wtf di I just watch. I don't know what to think after the first episode. I think i'll continue watching the Series but only to see if it gets better.
Something is strange. Why do the dialogues sometimes sound like English Dubbed Jap. Anime?

Totally surpassed my expectations and it's only the first episode.
