It seems that the trailer was quite misleading by taking Hank's words out of context, because in actuality he made a much more nuanced and (often) misunderstood argument against meritocracy.
Can’t tell if the show likes and wants us to root for Hank or if we are supposed to hate him?

This pilot was all over the place. I guess the main thing I struggled with was... why? What's the premise? Where's it going? Lots of things happening, but it's unclear what's important and what's not, and how we're supposed to be feeling about any of it. By the end of the episode, we're pretty much exactly where we started at the beginning. I think that's the point they were trying to make in a way, but it doesn't give you the best feeling about how you just decided to spend the last 45 minutes of your life. Maybe that's the point too?
Either way, it's a freaking GREAT cast, and that's enough to get me to give it another episode or two.

Reminds me of "The Chair", kinda slow and boring. Not sure where the story is trying to go.
Pilot is supposed to hook you, this one just doesn't.
