this one definitely gets you right in the feels.
This would be great if it hasn't nonsense child hypersexualization.
It is not necessarily bad to show taboo subjects, that's why the extreme challenges that minors should not go through are less serious than scenes that are born to entertain: the gore at least has something to do with the story, and is implied that is not desirable, they suffer. In hypersexualization, they act like is normal for their age. The mini joke that Prushka says when Riko asks why the doors are closed in the night on her house could be fine, we don't see disgusting scenes and is something real to a 12 y/o child. The rest of the 'jokes' are not okay.
You’ll be saying wtf several times throughout this series. Still not sure what I just watched..
If you are a fan of Lovecraftian horror, then you will love this show. This has some of the darkest moments I've seen before and it is not afraid to hold back; I would also recommend the movie as the movie is just on another level of horror.
incredible, S1 was so good and the movies were decent as well, now 5 episodes into S2 and it better than I expected, definitely worth the wait, I read somewhere that shield hero S2 was sacrificed for this, worth it.
The best discovery of 2017 by far. You don't get to enter such a dreamlike world every other day, and the background easily makes you want to explore it along with the protagonists. The chibi design can be weird at first, we quickly get to know the subtle mix of cuteness, fantasy, novelty and darkness.
It was truly an amazing anime. It started off with a thriller content then it became intense by the end. It portrays both positive and negative side of the story. It was a cute anime with children seeking adventure but by the end it shows the consequences and how the characters faces each and every problem together.
I would definitely like to watch another season!
Edit: Season 2 was much more intense in terms of story but was lacking in the "adventure" area as the entire season went by in a single location. At this point manga is just a few chapters ahead of the anime so a sequel is unlikely to come anytime soon but I just hope they make one in the future :fingers_crossed:.
A pretty excellent adventure fantasy series with a fascinating premise, some gorgeous visuals and music and lovable characters. This is a series that, despite the rather cutesey animation style, gets pretty dark and disturbing at points and certainly isn't afraid to subject characters to some pretty brutal stuff. However this never feels like it's done for shock value, more to emphasize the dangers of venturing into the unknown. Definitely one of the strongest of the season and I'm hoping they continue the story at some point.
I was almost off-put from the series due to the overly cutesy animation at the start, but boy was I wrong with how the series would go. Made in Abyss starts off like it should be a rather family friendly spelunking adventure, but slowly descends into madness and nightmares. The Anime twisted the concepts of humanity and nature in a truly dark fashion, while remaining endlessly enticing to the viewer. Keep in mind as you descend into this Anime, your journey is made with no return.
great anime in a amazing plot , 5 stars
Muito bom esse anime e a trilha sonora é muito boa.
Abysmal second season possibly killing the franchise
it s clearly not an anime for me but i can see it s "qualitatif"
Espero de coração que esse anime tenha uma segunda temporada porque Made in Abyss é cativante demais!!!

It does not happen often these days that an anime, or any tv show for that matter manages to get such a tight grip on me. But Made in Abyss manages to do it with flying colors.
For me Made in Abyss is the complete package. The story is captivating, the characters are very likeable, the music is perfect for setting the overall feeling you are supposed to get, and above all, that feeling for wanting to experience the unknown, to venture out into the debts of the abyss (no pun intended) and that feeling you get when watching this anime in your underbelly of yearning for something more, and to press on, no matter the consequences or the dangers is in my opinion one of the absolute cornerstones of this anime that makes this a masterpiece!
The story starts off very innocent and cute. And from the first few episodes you might think that this anime might be just a light anime because of how young the children are, with some comic relief. But if you keep watching that you will see that with every episode as Rico and Reg go deeper into the Abyss the story gets more darker and more disturbing.
To be frank, i did not fully understand when Rico and Reg said goodbye to their friends in episode 3 that goodbye really meant farewell forever. But as you can see in the later episodes (at the very least for Rico) there is no coming back alive once you go down the Abyss deep enough. In my opinion that makes Rico her fortitude and resolve to venture into the unknown, and leave everything and everyone she loves and knows behind even more daring and captivating.
I really REALLY hope that this anime gets a second season. Because this anime is the very reason i watch anime in the first place. I can wholeheartedly recommend this anime to anyone. Trust me, you will not regret it.
