A train tour of Australia begins on the Indian-Pacific, which takes four days and three nights to cross the width of the continent. Included on the journey are the coastlines of the Pacific, the barren plains of the Nullarbor, and Perth, the country's most remote capital city.
In this episode, ride on the Sunlander, which runs on a line that took 35 years to build. The journey, clocking in at about a thousand miles, cuts through a rain forest, mountains, rivers, and swamps.
In this last journey of the series, we will travel almost 1800 miles on the Ghan train, from the bottom of Australia to its top, across enormous deserts, sunbaked river beds, and ancient gorges.
