I'm still not sure about the story, but I adore the aesthetic. It's a real throwback to the early '80s. Even the end credits have a telecine wobble, what a nice attention to little details.

Now this is more like it! Though I continue to get Legion vibes from this show, I truly enjoyed the sci-fi mood of the episode. I wasn't expecting Maniac to dwell into sci-fi territory (though I didn't know much of the show when I started watching it), but that does suit it well.
Overall, I'm starting to get quite fond of the dynamics between Emma and Jonah's characters. Judging by the end of the episode, the relationship between them will only get stronger (and most certainly weirder).
