How is season 1 rated at 60% before the first episode has aired?
Is it the black guy with a white girl thing?
Watched first episode. I like it so far. This is going to take few episodes to create the back story & build up. I think the reason for rating is that 4 episodes are already released to critics. This show is far better than The Runaways & Inhumans based on first episode.... Cloak & Dagger follows plotlines devoted to racism or police brutality on Luke Cage, Krypton, and Supergirl — but the new series is refreshing in the way it makes the story deeply personal....school-aged heroes similar to Runaways... Stylistically, Cloak & Dagger leans closer to Legion than to other current superhero shows....this might end up being a standout hit. Let’s see what happens by episode 6 & let’s hope Spider-Man makes an appearance (Heheheh).
Complicated, extraordinary people trying to find their place. This series just gets better and better. The script has depth, rooted in a contemporary reality. The lead actors are great. The struggles are compelling. Great writing. Great acting. Great chemistry. This series is a winner. The exceptional nature of this Marvel franchise is that it is more rooted in life in America than in the supernatural reality of these character's powers. My initial rating was a 9 (superb) out of 10 but I quickly knew this was a 10 (extraordinary) series, and, as of the end of Season 1, it is on My Top 40 TV series list. If you haven't been following it, make it a priority to binge it in preparation for Season 2 in the spring of 2019. [Marvel Universe Drama]
I like the show so far. Pacing is a little slow for me, but it's not a deal breaker. Some people have said the show is ruined by political stuff, but this story, specifically Ty's, is a reality for a large portion of Americans. To call it SJW whining is incredibly dismissive. And let's not act like Marvel comics aren't full of politics, on purpose.
I will check it out (instead of already casting a vote without seeing 1 episode, like others - don't make this into another IMDB rating guys & gals!), but a Marvel tv-show which isn't broadcasted by Netflix.. I'm not getting my hopes up.. they tend not to be the best from Marvel's inventory.. thinking back on their partnership with ABC makes me shiver.. please don't let it be another Inhumans (altho that one will be hard to beat in awfulness).
I'll give it a fair trial - win some, rage some.
There is no bright spot for this show, every facet is done with a B team or below. The actors are bleh, the writing is cringe, the pacing is horrendous, the sound mixing makes the dialogue unintelligible without subtitles, and the cameramen were having seizures apparently because the camera wont stop shacking in virtually every shot (I could go on). I appreciate elements of social justice in my shows, I just ask that the execution is at least somewhat decent.
season 2 was just terrible! not even worth watching.
Again, season two is excruciating painful. Please, somebody shoot me, it's torture. Bad writing, bad storytelling, bad story.
OMG, that was pretty, I should say, excruciatingly, bad
Ok… Am I too stupid for this or is it just a s**t show??
definitely more interesting than the trailer shows. real kids with real life problems. if you liked black lighting you will probably like this too. it touches on privilege and corruption in society. it is interesting to see how kids can react to the unfair world around them without guidance. this show focuses more on mental issues and is a bit more grittier than runaways.
Such a slow moving show. Aubrey can barley be understood when he talks. Story concept is good but can put anyone to sleep and the pace it goes.
I enjoyed the first season but bored to death by the second one and even started skipping forward in episodes to make them finish quicker, gave up with 2 episodes left of series 2. I really don't care what happens.
So slow and boring like it takes 10 episodes to see some action, some actual cloak and dagger. I like the idea and I'm a fan of the comics but this is reallly disappointing.
This was excruciating to watch. I barely made it through season 1 and won't give season 2 any shot. The actor playing Tyrone was wooden in the worst way. The light/dark young romance was done better in Runaways. The writing was bland, the editing was sometimes jumbled and confusing, and the effects were decent if underutilized. I really wanted to like the bad cop drama but it was killed by my dislike for Tyrone.
A lot of pop songs telling me what to feel during scenes instead of good writing/acting. I'm following a MCU watch order list and this came right after Jessica Jones. Which is a fantastic show. I hope this gets better. "How convenient... A random tarp..."
While I appreciate the characters themselves, the hard lives they lived, and the neighborhood they came from...… That said, I still think that this show was terribly scripted. Far too many metaphors and too many scenes that looked like therapy sessions. The only exciting this about this show for me, was the special effects. If it wasn't for the life-like special effects, I would not have bothered to watch the show. It's a shame they cancelled it, because this had the potential to be something good. They needed better writers. Sorry......
this is very good and informative site i love your all content and had great time to visit your site .
.thanks for this great information and keep posting good and informative content good luck
Season 1 was superb but the second season had too much padding and a disappointing amount of enjoyable storyline.
If it wasn’t for the second season this would be a 9/10 for sure.
Still far better than Inhumans and Runaways and definitely worth a watch.
Lack of scripting and in some-way characters feel awkward with them-selves gives this show cringe-worthy experience.
However, I continued to watch it, and as you can see I managed to get to the end. At some point it gets to some sort of action and excitement, but don't expect it from first six episodes (that's my personal opinion).
In some weird way I did enjoy it. There is some sort of attraction to it, form me it was sound-track, very well done. And I would lie if I'd say that I don't find Olivia Holt to be attractive.
Quick summary. This is not something you binge-watch, maybe more like something you watch with some-one together from time to time. But hey, that how I see it.
Started out as a good show with some potential but takes a nose dive. And looks like they cancelled it aster 2 seasons. Probably for the best.
Too much racial stuff and way too much wannebe-political correctness. Add a weird messy story to the mix and perhaps a focus on a viewing audience of around 16-17 and you got a.... really crap series.
I still gave it 3 episodes, but gave up as there was no sign of improvement, not the story picking up any pace.
It's geared to the young adult audience but can be enjoyable for everybody I think. It's not the best stuff but compared to the other marvel TV shows it quite good.
Looking forward to see how the second season turns out as I am hoping we will see them start to become super-heroes instead of seeing them feel sorry for themselves for most of the plot.
Anybody understand exactly what Dagger did to those people's dreams and will she go repair them ? Does her former accomplice hate her now then ? Never read the commics so don't know the story lol.
Not the worst of the Marvel TV series. There are definitely some parts that could have done with more explanation and the backstory to the 'divine pairing' is kinda neat, but they glossed over the origin of it way too quickly. I would definitely recommend ya give it a watch.
going too slow for me
i will be honest, this isn,t exactly lighting me on fire so far, its very slow and boring and like most things these days that have a black person in the cast, it can,t just produce a good superhero show without preaching about white privilege and the trials of black people. i,m well aware these problems exist in the world but a superhero tv show is not the place to air them. i hate tv shows with an agenda and this clearly has one. i will continue to watch as i,m mildly curious to see where it goes, plus, i,m a marvel completest and have to devour everything they produce, but i was hoping for better than this
I don't know but so far so good. Comic book/ superhero tv shows are really popular right now but what separates cloak and dagger from the rest is its fresh plot and unique storytelling.
Most shows featuring supercute barely-post-adolescent actors feature some real actors as counterbalance. This one doesn't, and the actingis excruciating. Meanwhile, there's just not enough investment in style: the framing and lighting of shots, decisions about how to narrate the story, how to use the camera to help engage with character development--all these are at best indecisive and at worst rotten. I don't know the broader Marvel background of the story, but to call its unfolding "slow" is to be very generous. In general, it feels like strung-together music videos and action meet-cutes. I was genuinely surprised at how little I liked it.
Yeah we need few episodes till they learn their superpowers bullshit. Noone needs another teenage drama, these are frakin heroes, make them act like it! I know it's expensive to make episodes with fighting and cgi rather than talking but come on...
