My least favorite episode this season.
WOW I think Deborah Ann Woll gave best performance of her career. As a comic book reader, I was gasping in last 10 mins. Cos you know, Bullseye + Karen + Church ;) Another powerful and emotional episode. Great job.
BTW the amount of episodes without Charlie Cox is very suprising to me.
Like I say before, I hate Karen's dad.
He's horrible.
Freaking Dex is indestructible.
I see more troubles for Matt now because of Fisk obsession to kill Karen.
I don't really want to watch another episode again about Karen. Just no.
Also I want that baldheaded fuck to die a very slow painful death. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Wow , what a waste of time. Who the hell wants an whole episode about Karen?
This was a great episode. I would have given it a 9 by I thought the Karen backstory was a little long.
At the beginning of the episode I was a little bit annoyed that they showed the flashback mostly because after the ending of the previous episode I was eager to go on.
But you know what, it worked. This season clearly is different but so far they are right on the money when to go slow and when to pull the trigger.
I’m in the middle of watching this right now. This has to be one of if not the worst episode of the series. Completely useless and pointless. I don’t care about Karen and her background. This isn’t about Karen, it’s about Matt. You could give some brief flashbacks to explain where Karen came from, but an entire episode about her…unnecessary and a waste of money.
Almost all the episode is Karen's past flashback. Good to know, but definitely not worth half an hour. I really like Karen, contrary to most people it seems, but that was too much. Well, actually no, not too much at all, it was pretty empty for such a long part of the episode.
It also totally breaks the flow of the season. It is already annoying, but understandable, when there's this kind of big pause just before the season climax, but here it's really misplaced.
End is a repeat of the Bulletin scene, and it's equally good. Dex horribly murdering innocent people, a good fight, things flying everywhere and Matt intercepting them. A bit weird at the end when Karen is like "it's ok he's gone", when he could actually just have gotten up and coming to finish them, which would actually be the smart thing to do. Why would she assume he's fled ?
Why do they always have focus episodes for the least interesting characters? And do they really think we're interested in this while we're in the middle of the main story. I hate these kind of episodes for multiple reasons.
First 30 min where insane well done, other part was ok
Exceptional episode with the biggest letdown being what a terrible fighter Matt became.
Karen's past doesn't interest me much, curious similarity to the movie
I used to like Karen, but after this episode I almost don't care if she dies. I saw some comments saying this is more mature now, I suspect they said it because for them nothing is mature without drugs and teen drama. It had some good parts but still my least favorite episode.
The first half of the episode gave me some really strong Life is Strange/Chloe vibes. Maybe that was just me though
The Guardian Devil storyline is absolute wasted without Karens death. No emotional impact and the background story was totally out of place. I like Karen, but the isn't that important for Daredevil. Missed oppurtunity.
Hmm.. this is one of the worst episodes of DD imo. That flashback was great and emotional, but very out of place and didn't add anything to the main story; it was very weird. And the Father's death was really cheap, so many people predicted that he's going to die instead of Karen just after they saw the trailer. I hoped that DD would be better than this and stick to the comicbook story, but we got this.. They also wasted that iconic shot of Matt holding Karen by switching them.
I’m not sure if this was meant for us to understand and sympathize with Karen’s past, but somehow I came out disliking her character even more. I was low key hoping Dex would deliver on his promise.
You just gotta explain it with no other than misoginy. It happened to Sarah in Barry, and it happens with the opinions here, and it's quite telling also that it's hate against two of the best performances by a lead actress in television.
What show you have been watching and loving? You have been subjected to focus on the important things along these chapters, not just fights. So, at this point, you are just failing what this show means.
Also, some of the users here might be the reason Marvel shows are really awful. You failed real art, and championed for content instead.
I can't believe that Father Lantom is dead...
I thought this was really good. I love a good origin story. Karen irritated me before this episode, and now I can understand her character a bit better and afford/invest some empathy. Some people are their own worst enemy.
Matt is just too weak, fucking hell
All the Karen's past part was very meh, wasn't secessary at all for the DD story and I still feel the same about her.
The church scene was gorgeous though
An episode that looks into Karen's past for almost 30 minutes that reveals a lot about her guilt regarding her brother's death. In the present, Fisk orders Dex to kill Karen. Matt leaves Fisk's penthouse and heads to the church. DeX shows up in the Daredevil costume and attacks parishioners. He stabs and kills the priest when Matt shows up the fight him. The innocent people escape and Matt and Dex fight while Karen attempts to distract Dex. The fight continues up on the balcony and Karen hits Dex off the ledge and falls to the floor below. Dex escapes and Matt lies unconscious in Karen's arms.
The fight was amazing and the ending was great.
Interesting background story on Karen but not enough to have its own episode, in my opinion.

A perfectly placed flashback.
An episode entirely dedicated to Karen was something I didn't know was needed until now. The episode begins with a 30 minute flashback, and it's just so damn good. It had my full attention from the opening scene. I had no idea she used to be a drug addict, and had no idea about her relationship with her family...and this was the perfect time to finally inform me. Then, when it flicks back to present day, Karen is receiving inspiring and wise words from father Lantom regarding her "troubled soul". Then that church scene happens, and even though it's all action and violence, the scene still feels very much about Karen rather than the action.
In so many TV shows, flashback episodes always feel like an outlier; like you could almost forget about the episode and the season would feel the same, but the polar opposite can be said with "Karen". She's a great character who gets a lot of undeserved hate, and Deborah Ann Woll absolutely gives us her best work on this show yet in this episode, and rightfully so.
The people giving this episode hate have very short attention span and have to see Daredevil fighting the villain over and over again, much like a children's superhero movie. This brilliant show is an 18 age certificate for a reason. It's a patient and dark programme that explores adult themes, and it's starting to feel more and more mature now, with season 3 being its most adult season yet.
R.I.P Father Lantom. So much wisdom and a kind heart. Such a good character.
