Meh... Whatever. Totally underwhelmed...by every character. This was like the show they made with leftover funds from Daredevil.
I also binge watched the whole season in one day and I loved it!!! I couldn't stop watching. If it wasn't for the occasional toilet brake, I would have thought Killgrave told me to keep watching non-stop ;-)
the first season was one of the best ones out of the marvel netflix shows but season two was one of the worst. if you wanted to check this show out, pretend it ended at season one.
There are many superhero shows out there, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, but their storyline and atmosphere are so different from Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones is immersed in a dark and intriguing atmosphere, surrounded by abuse, rape and injustice, she tries to just live.
I loved the cast, especially Krysten Ritter and David Tennant, who played marvelously a villain so three-dimensional, so complex compared to other villains on tv. Killgrave is the most interesting villain I have encountered, his power represents what every human fears but besides that, he is motivated by some of the most pure emotions.
One of the aspects that I loved is that, in just one season, we see a huge character development in every character (which is refreshing for a superhero tv series).
There were some aspects that irritated me at the beginning . I don’t know anything about Marvel or DC Comics, nothing about superheroes and their worlds. So I kept asking myself if Jessica Jones was an inhuman, how did she get her powers, if this was in the same universe as Daredevil, etc. Later I got my answers to these (a little bit stupid) questions, although I still think they should have introduced me better to Jessica Jones’ world. (I also spotted some goofs through the season and let me tell you, if I saw then, everybody did.)
I’m not going to lie, the fact this is a series about women only makes me like it more. It’s so rare to find women as leads in quality TV shows, it’s time for the world to realize having a woman leading a show doesn’t make it weaker, most of the time it makes it even stronger.
I admit I enjoyed Daredevil much more but this still captivated me so much. It is a breath of fresh air.

I watched the first Jessica Jones season about a year or two after it came out. Afterwards, I put the series on hold and ended up finishing what I started recently. Back when I first saw it, I even read the comic series the first season adapted - "Alias". The dark tone and cynicism of that story form a great basis for the TV series to build upon,
Jessica Jones is a superpowered private investigator who thrives off of neo-noir clichés in the best way possible. Her life is a consistent trainwreck, she's got a major drinking problem, everyone around her is a toxic asshole and so is she. Krysten Ritter gives an absolutely iconic performance as the titular character and owns every moment of the role, they could not have picked a better actress. Her charisma is off the charts, I could watch an entire episode of Jessica being herself and would be thorougly entertained. Beneath her nihilistic attitude though lay layers of tragedy that unfold themself as we see her grow past them and the new difficulties she faces with each season.
A superhero (or whatever Jessica is) is only as good as their villain, and the series does provide a good cast of them, particularly in the first season (a major reason as to why it's the best). David Tennant is as masterful in his role as Purple Man as Ritter is in Jessica's and their opposition against one another. There's always the question of how Jessica will be able to take them down, and the show does well to subvert the viewer's expectations when the climax is reached.
The cast of side character is a bit of a mixed bag for me though. Rachael Taylor is fantastic as Trish Walker and while I had a few issues with some sudden changes to her character, I overall liked her arc and found her engaging to watch. Malcolm was a charming sidekick, but I grew to have very mixed feelings about him and found his screentime unearned. The same might go for Jeryn Hogarth. Carrie Anne-Moss is able to wonderfully humanise someone as despicable as this comptetitive attorney. There's a lot of complexity to Jeri, but that doesn't change how nonessential her plots are. They barely connect with the main threads going on and are great at showcasing a major flaw in the latter seasons - to pad out episodes, side characters take over far too often, which is apparent whenever Jessica gets the focus.
The atmosphere is fantastic, props must be given to the crew when it comes to music and cinematography. The title screen is always a blast to watch; engaging colour pallete, while the absolute banger of a theme builds up. The music running through the course of episodes is wonderful too. As for the shots, they are a joy to look at. The lighting and angles do a lot to set a vibe.
I love the "Jessica Jones" series, and while I find that it has its issues in Season 2 and 3, I would still wholeheartedly recommend it. Even if just for Season 1, which is some of the best content Marvel and Netflix have put out. The end might be a little abrupt, but there's no cliffhangers left dangling at the end of Season 3. I hope we get to see Ritter reprise her role someday, and if not, I can always rewatch this.
Woulda been a 6/10 if she wasn't so smokin hott
Action packed show sorry too see it be cancelled and goes out with a bang in Season 3
Loved Marvel's Jessica Jones throughout the seasons with lots of amazing fight scenes and also dealing with loss and emotional connections between family friends and lovers too. Season 3 is a great end to this fantastic TV Show where it just leaves you satisfied that everything is wrapped up nicely, nevertheless still leaving it open to interpretation too and plus more powered people this season too what is not too love.
Man, Season 2 sucked big time. There are so many broken and shitty people on this show that I stopped caring about anyone
Why, for God's sake, she did not kill Killgrave as soon as she had the opportunity. Even from a distance!
Why, for God's sake, she does not have a firearm (in the US!), or a stun gun ?!
Why, for God's sake, did not Killgrave control someone with real power? Even the mafia boss?
PS. I give 1 instead of 5 because some idiots give this piece of s*t 10!
I shouldn't have watched the entire season in one day but I regret nothing
Finished binge watching the series and wow, what a great series it was! Very true to the original tone of the comics with some great references to the MCU and Netflix Daredevil series. Can't wait to see more of Jess in the Defenders show and hopefully in future upcoming Marvel Netflix series!
Cant wait this show is gonna be BIG!
Marvel & Netflix make the perfect baby.
I would plead the MCU, to abort this fucking show forever. Or they could at least erase that Marvel tag from there. I thought DC was doing a screw-up with their "Arrow" [or should I say Green Arrow now? I don't know, I stopped watching that too.] But now I see Marvel isn't far behind too! At least "The Flash" had its moments of humor! It lacked that too.
N.B. Some people compared Jessica with Daredevil. To them, I say this: don't you ever fucking dare to do that!
Amazing, but David Tennant as Kilgrave is kind of weird. Trish and Jessica have AMAZING chemistry, and the whole show is freaking amazing.
David Tennant was on point as Kilgrave . The accident brought so much more life to the character
That was one of the creepiest and scariest series I ever watched. But as a Marvel fan, I loved it all, how much it was true to the comics and the nuance in it. Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones was so great, she's a freaking good actress and represent JJ really well in its entirely. I don't think it was better than Daredevil but it was definitely on the same level. I love how every show from Marvel has its own atmosphere and tone - Agents of SHIELD is mostly fun with occasional dark moments, Daredevil is a drama with lot of good choreographed fight scenes and fun, compelight supporting characters and Jessica Jones is a dark psychological drama. I can't wait to watch Luke Cage and Iron Fist series.
Great show!! again like daredevil, makes you finally believe in marvel. it's just on another level! it's pretty dark but it's really interesting; the writing is great, the actors are amazing and it has awesome diversity. all the things disney marvel doesnt have enough of. It's also great on feminism and girl power which i personally like to see more from marvel! 100/10 recommend!
amazing show!!!!!! but kinda violent and deviant. for example in the first episode when hope kills her parents and laughs was creepy (lol' i was afraid of getting inside elevators) and the sex scences were kind of too x-rated. but this show is amazing and i really love the fact that all of the episodes were realised in one day.
Jessica Jones Season 1 was a great and i mean really great one of Netflix' best. And i think i was a great tv show from a female perspective, you have the strong woman in the main role and most of the other important characters were female too except for the antagonist and her neighbor.
But that was just how the show was it didnt seem faked or put-on it just felt natural. I loved Jessica as character and i dont mean i was sexually attracted to her because she really is not my type at all i just liked her as a cool powerful character.
Now im three episodes into season 2 and i really had to get something off my chest, im talking about the extreme hollywood-type of feminism and i dont mean the kind that roots for equality but those who are totally unrealistic.
I agree that men and women are not yet equal in a lot of areas and i myself really would appreciate if that changes in the near future.
Maybe some of you who read this saw the Academy Awards 2018, it was horrible every speech had this big agenda in it about oppressed and mistreated women. Why ? I mean sure we all know the #metoo stuff but that also is happening to men, im just saying Kevin Spacey.
Also women are not getting Acad. Awards ? Wait who exactly holds the most Oscars for acting ? As far as i know its Katharine Hepburn.
If you get an Oscar these days as a women you cant even be sure if you deserved it or it was to avoid a shitstorm. Also i dont know what everyone talks about the priviliged white cis-male when the oppression of women in e.g. Arabian countries is not even comparable, but thats a topic for another day.
So what i meant to say, like i said i watched only 3 episodes yet and let me list that stood out and really made the show worse because the built-in feminism that Jessica Jones brings with it as a show gets ruined by the feminist-extremism that instantly pulls you out of the shows immersion!
I will list all the things that caught my eye in the first 3 episodes. (Spoilers for Jessica Jones S03E01-E03 ahead!)
- The Netflix background for J. Jones where stands in a restroom with the text "Fight Like a Woman!" (which really wasnt that bad at this point)
- Jeri Hogarth's speech when she gets the award
- Jessica asks the supervisor in her house if she insulted his masculinity by moving his fridge
- J. Hogarth says something like "If god exists, SHE has a bad taste in humor" (which is obviously a provocation)
And there were a lot more i cant recall in specific now, all of these things are peanuts but its so many that it really is counterproductive to the true cause because every man who is on the brink of saying "Okay we need to treat women more as equals!" gets punched in the face and thinks "God they are all crazy!"
Besides that, i really like the new season, i dont think its as good as season 1 which might be because Kilgrave was such a disgusting villain and i am exited for the remaining episodes !
Have fun watching !
Ridiculously good show. Was a bit pessimistic about watching this after loving daredevil. David tennant was spine chillingly good as killgrave and the story was just magnificent and really made you think.
I found it interesting in the beginning, but I got bored after 5 or 6 episodes. The cat and mouse game got old pretty quick. I did not care for the secondary characters. It's hard to define what it missing here, but I know I liked Daredevil much more than this one.
Intensely awesome show, as much as I wanted to binge-watch I resisted (somehow). It was so good in-fact the wife even watched it with me and commented it was unlike anything she had seen before. The acting, the script, all fantastic. Both Krysten Ritter, and David Tennant on screen separately were great, but together, awe-inspiring.
Certainly cannot wait for Season 2, whether that's before or after Defenders, there is certainly a lot more Jessica Jones left to tell!
got one word only: overrated
i just knew Krysten Ritter will do and awesome job when she got casted for Jessica Jones... incredible actress!!! seen her in Don't trust the B in Ap 23, Big Eyes, Veronica mars, Breaking Bad, She's out of my league, Confessions of an shopaholic and others... and i loved the way she acts... hope she will get some main roles after this!
David Tennant was on point as Kilgrave . The accident brought so much more life to the character
How do you take the Marvel Universe and ramp it up to 12? You take a down on her luck super hero and make things even worse. Jessica Jones has had a rough life but everything is preparing her for this trial and experience.
First off, this is not a kids show. Not in the least. This is a dark and gritty character study, of people dealing with more lose then most people ever should. You do not need to binge watch all the episode, but many of them just push you into the next one, making it hard to turn them off.
I admit that when I first heard about the casting of Krysten Ritter as Jessica, I was skeptical. But in Marvel we trust, and I am so glad I did. About 10 minutes in and I was sold on her as Jessica. The worst part of this series, is that will never be able to re-watch Doctor Who and see David Tennant the same way. He filled the screen with his presence but I don't think he ever too away from Jessica or the theme of the season.
Kilgrave forced me to watch all this in 1 day and give 10 out of 10 rating!
(via TV Blaze for WP)
Jessica is a really badass, loved the trailers, is gonna be as awesome as Daredevil, or even better! Go JJ!!!
So slept on it’s not even funny
Season 1 & 2 were great & good.
Season 3 was "Ironfist".
the last insufferable season the last insufferable season
It’s been 4-5 years sense I watched this show and I still love her
watching the first season was somewhat depressing yet suspenseful. had to take pauses in between episodes because it's just overwhelmingly bleak. I watched Krysten Ritter for the first time from and episode in the blacklist and after finishing this series I'm definitely watching more of her shows. David Tennant's character is soooo foul and immoral and such a wonderful surprise. now watching season 2 and have been delaying on finishing it lmao. I would conclude the experience this show has given me as: intriguingly suspenseful and wonderfully somber. but as superheroes.
even though I haven't finished the show, I do hope we can see the defenders character on the other MCU projects. they say we might see daredevil on the next Spiderman movie. I really hope we get to see Jessica as well soon!
I'll say it, Trish did nothing wrong
3 Thoughts After Completing ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’:
I never thought I’d like a disgruntled, broken superhero so much. Krysten Ritter was a joy to watch and deserves the credit for keeping me invested.
Nothing ever lived up to the first season. I blame a lot of that on the absence of David Tennant, who rivals Vincent D’Onofrio for the best villain of this whole Netflix/Marvel thing. Other than that, stories/characters just went in an off direction.
I really, really wanted to like Trish Walker — and in the first season she was great! But she eventually became very detrimental to the show, evolving into someone fairly unlikeable. One might say this made the “series finale-worthy” ending that much more satisfying, but others will see missed opportunities.
Bonus Thought: So long, Defenders. It’s been an interesting ride.
I only know Kristen Ritter from Breaking Bad and I didn't like her. I'm in no way saying she's a bad actress,I just didn't like her character. But here she's amazing. I'm only on my second episode but I'm impressed. She's so believable in what she's doing. Like the character was written for her. I'm looking forward to watching the rest.
The only good thing about this was David Tennant
Overall this show was good, the first season was good. The second was just downright awful and cringy. The third and final season is definitely the best but not without its flaws. It was nice to see David Tennant appear as a villain in this but I felt like his chemistry with Jessica was a bit off and overall I didn't feel worried about them.
The actress who played Trish was a bit hit or miss for me. Some episodes she would shine but other episode truly showed the limitations to her acting ability as she only seems to be act the more serious conversation led scenes but when it was a lighter mood or when she had to freak out, (in season 3 I believe), it really just didn't work. This is another one of those shows where it doesn't really have you fearing for the life of your main characters because for the most part they do stay relatively safe throughout the duration of the show. However I do think this works in their favour as when a main character does die in the latter season then it comes as more of a shock as you thought all the characters were safe but it turns out they weren't.
Jessica Jones isn't without its filler episodes. There was one episode, that I can recall, where it was pretty much the same thing as an episode we'd seen only 2 episodes back but with different camera angles. I get that the show was trying to help us get into the mind of Trish instead of Jessica but it just didn't really work in this format.
Overall this show was decent but could have done some improving.
7 - Good
It had such an amazing first season with Killgrave, but the other 2 are fine as well.
First season was pretty nice and the villian had an interesting superpower, which helped the plot a lot. But with more seasons the facepalm moment appeared more and more frequently. Characters in this show are doing some dumb shit. Really really dumb. A lot of little thing and some big one and a little less than in the other Netflix/Marvel shows, but still......
Could not relate to any characters, because on top they way they justify their actions... just stupid . I can just recommend the first season.
Season 3 ending was horrible.
I love Jessica! She is such a badass. Lot of action and blood though.
The series 3rd season will still stream on Netflix. Production has just finished.

Netflix Cancelled The Punisher and Jessica Jones. This move brings an end to the Marvel/Netflix joint productions.
Not my favorite marvel character. But its entertaining somewhat.
JJ season two is worse than Iron fist. The whole story was pointless. Trish's character suddenly took a 180 degree turn. Like seriously?
Season 1 is a 5 and a half, season 2 is awful and I hated everything about it, especially Trisha.
what the first season lacked the second made up for. what a wonderful dive into the origins of jessica and her permanent struggle to know what to do. like everyone else. i really enjoyed this one and i hope we will get more of her!
The first season was solid asf, but the second is terrible and more noticiable the low budget. First:7/8 Second:5
A bitter-sweet goodbye. This review is overdue because to write it meant I finally had to say goodbye to the JESSICA JONES created under the Netflix's banner. I have really enjoyed this series. The writing has been sharp, self-depreciating and grimly humorous, like it's protagonist. Krysten Ritter has brilliantly inhabited this character. The first season of JESSICA JONES was my second favourite Netflix produced Marvel TV series (DAREDEVIL, season one was my #1). Unlike DAREDEVIL and his team, JESSICA JONES' outlook on life is not optimistic. She battles internal as well as external demons. Season One and Season Two are very different from one another, so brace yourself, the former is about finding a team/family, the latter is about the dissolution of family/team, and, perhaps, a redefining of family. The acting is good. (David Tennent is getting too good at playing the villian). The dramatic tension in both stories is palpable. The third season was more about what heroism is (or does) than it is about a fight against villainy. As is always true with the series, the struggle is real and the lines hard to define. Even though this season had a slow start (it must have been hard to reset after Killgrave) all the avenues were explored. Great writing, great plot, characters in whom you can invest, a bitter-sweet finale to a series I truly enjoyed. I give this season a 9 (superb) out of 10, but I give the whole series a 10 (the best) out of 10. [Superheroine]
Overall, Very Entertaining
I totally thought season 2 would lag without Kilgrave, and with the exception of having a truly outstanding villain, it didn't lag at all.
Trish was really the most interesting. Trish grates on my nerves a lot, but the writers took her character right where she needed to be, and she did a fantastic job portraying that. She was annoying a lot, but the payoff was great.
It was pretty apparent from season 1 episode 1 that Trish was jealous of Jess having powers. And her journey to getting her own was truly entertaining.
Trish is on a high horse that is probably going to ruin her life, but I am super ready to see her be the hero she has always wanted to be.
Also, the line about her declining that marriage proposal was so on point and really shed some light onto her character.
Poor Malcolm though, that romance was forced for sure, but she didn't have to do him like that.
Jessica needs a long break.
Please be better than "The Defenders..." Please be better than "The Defenders..." Please be better than "The Defenders..."
I was kinda bored in first 4 episodes but after that it went over the roof. Every event came in place perfectly, no character was unnecesary and everyone played their part of the story. No illogical decisions, behaviour was so real I would believe this really happened. Episodes 7-13 were solid 10/10. I didnt expect something like this from Marvel.
Btw. I want spin off with Trish!
First things first - I didn´t knew anything this is based on. Never read it so my assessment is of purely how I recieved the show.
After watching Daredevil this is a major drop. I know you can´t compare it directly and that Marvel isn´t always about the big gun superhero. Nevertheless this was a huge dissapointment. Started interesting - the idea of a former superhero that just tries to make a decent living is intriguing. And the beginning, the style of a detective show with the music, was good. I would have liked seeing more of this. Unfortunately it became a one way street and the plot didn´t hold enough water for 13 episodes, it lost it´s appeal fast. What are her powers ? She´s strong but not overly so it seems. She doesn´t come across as super and the portrayal of her strength never felt convincing. We learn in flashbacks of her past but again it´s too little to really keep up interest.
That cat and mouse game between Jones and Kilgrave wears out fast, it´s repetitive. I think he is one of the worst villains ever. Nothing more then a psychopatic super stalker a bit like Jack from the Profiler show but Jack had style while Kilgrave is just an a***. A one trick pony that lets others do his bidding. He really can do nothing by himself and everytime something goes not according to his plans he tucks his tail and runs. That´s pathetic. And that over accentuated british accent is annoying like hell. And even if it was satisfying to see Jessica snap his neck it ain´t the kind of finale you are looking for at the end of a season
I didn´t care for any of the characters, primary or secondary. That´s another thing, the secondary lineup is weak. That brain dead cop Simpson, the nutjob Robyn, the junkie Malcolm, the bitchy Hogarth - no thanks.
I was already bored by the fifth episode, by the tenth I gave up, and I only let the rest play along after reading about the conclusion because I feared I might miss something of the bigger picture in the Netfilix/Marvel universe. And the proplem I have now is that I might be forced to watch another season for the same reason. So far the Netflix shows are 1:1 in my book.
This would be such a good show, but the forced lesbian thing made it unwatchable for me.
Nope. I found this slow and drama-lite. As if they were trying to be dark and edgy, but it came across as.... trying too hard? I haven't read the books, so it may be Marvel's characterisation that I hate, but Jessica as a 'I can do it all myself, I don't NEED your help!'/but really I'm scared and trying to protect you is BORING. It's predictable and dull, and I struggled to get through it. It's not as dramatic as Daredevil (liked!), though that's not necessarily the point.
If you are familiar with the comic book universe you are entering, you may be more willing to suspend some of your usual watching criteria. For me, as a newbie to the character, there was too much predictability to keep me engaged and I found myself yelling at the screen over unimaginative dialogue and portrayals (jessica jones reads as a stereotypical petulant teen/rebel outsider, with some traumatic backstory that makes her so, and yet people look out for her and come to her rescue when she's really stuck! YAWN. Disappointed, as I loved, loved loved Krystin Ritter in Don't Trust the B - her delivery, sense of timing and portrayal of an absolutely witty and acerbic HORRIBLE person was excellent and engaging. I feel like they could have gone deeper/darker with this, but wanted to appeal to a general audience. Liked Luke, he was decently convincing most of the time, and enjoyed Tennant as Kilgrave. It's an interesting twist for him.
I enjoyed the first season and I'll definitely be back for the second. Also looking forward to seeing Cage's solo series after this. It should be noted that I am not familiar with the comics, though I will be reading them now that I've seen the series. While the show itself is decent, it did feel like Ritter is not entirely at home with the role yet. That might change as the show progresses. As it neared the end I couldn't help but feel that Tenant was the reason the story came across so well, though that's not really so surprising. The fight scenes came across a bit weak, like the actors were forcing it, or it might have been the camera work. Couldn't quite put my finger on it but they seemed to be lacking something. Other than that, I do recommend the series. Very dark. And seeing Carrie-Anne Moss was a nice surprise.
Went into it not knowing anything about it except that it said Marvel on it, and I like the main actress. Gave up halfway through episode 2. It's ok though. I didn't like the Daredevil show or the Deadpool movie either. Clearly not my genre.
David Tennant escalates this show from good to f**king amazing!!!! Hope they keep the momentum heading into season 2
The story doesn't develop as mush as I wanted but it's getting there. Secondly, the show is not super exciting just like most other Netflix original shows if that's what you are looking for and to be honest and we don't get to see here abilities very often or at all in some episodes. It's probably because I was not aware of her before I began the series. Overall, great show and recommend it.
Got hooked instantly, it was a good show, loved Jess + Luke. I think trish was best character without a doubt.
she's like Veronica Mars with super powers,i'm at first ep and yet i'm obsessed!
Really a great show. Hope for more!!
I like so much the Jessica's personality. She's strong not just in physical, but in mind too and it is very inspiring
meh... regular first season, nothing great.
Good action drama. A couple of low moments and even lesser highs. A bit more work on the show wouldn't have hurt.
I should've watched the entire season in one day. But I regret nothing ;)
Really good show with the same pace as Daredevil.

It´s not the masterpiece people would have you believe ( this days the hype with super heroes is a bit to much ) its a good show. and that´s it.
