I didn't know what to expect from the show after the second season of Daredevil. I din't like the whole story around The Punisher, which might be because I am not a fan of Jon Bernthal. I didn't like him on The Walking Dead either. I am four episodes in now on The Punisher and to be honest, it did surprise me. After Daredevil I was expecting much worse, but the show did prove me wrong until this point. It won't be my favorite show and I do like Daredevil more, but what I like about The Punisher, is that it is something different, especially if you compare it to all of the other superhero shows out there. It is raw, brutal and merciless. Not sure if it'll be enough for multiple seasons, but for the moment I'll continue with it.
Ok, so, in fact, it's the story of Frank Castle, not the Punisher.
Slow, boring and totaly cliché...
Come for the action, stay for the drama. This is mostly a drama, a slow burn series but you will find yourself starting the next episode as soon as the current one ends (I binged all 13 episodes in 2 sittings). When it does get to the action, it doesn't disappoint.
Another Netflix marvel another shit. Empty with so many time loose on nothing. At the end of a scene you know what happens in the next and there is no suspens no tension juste things what you think can happen and happens.
sooo good im so sad its over. i miss amy and frank already and i finished it last night
Mediocre and Boring, nothing impressive, too much talk and filler, i hate the villains and all the supporting cast. The action is good and the ultra violence is fun but they all regenerate too quick.
the episodes are long, the story progresses slowly. you already know what's going to happen, no surprises. endless talking, constant whining about being veterans, veteran support groups, how they can't handle the war, oh the PTSD. it's tedious, boring, why would you become a soldier if you can't handle killing, what did you expect
Hell Of A Show, And Much More Then I Expected. The Third Season Was An Unexpected Rollercoaster Of Thrill And Action. Frank Castle Became The Punisher With So Much More To Fight For, With Intertwining Stories, It Just Kept Getting Better.
What A Show, And Netflix Really Did A Great Job With Marvel And Genuinely Sad To See It End. The Last Of The Marvel & Netflix Joint Venture.
Late comment. This is the only word I can think of.. RUSSOOOO!!!
Finally finished season 2. It was painful to watch, dragged on for way too long. I would recommend skipping 60% of the story (waste of time talking parts). So many stupid characters, terrible writing style, horrible story telling. Season 1 was amazing, this season I could’ve spent my time watching better show. The Punisher needs to go after the director & writers for making a season that just dragged on.
Series 1 was okay, but series 2 is terrible. No idea what’s going on , everyone mumbles so you can’t make out what is being said. Mega bore
Man, I'm so disappointed with this show! This is not the Punisher...smh. I quit after episode 5 and have no interest in finishing it
the action itself is okay, but it bothers me a bit too much that people in this show and mainly the Punisher himself would often get beaten to a pulp, shot and stabbed, then he would proceed to sleep it off and go on fight the next battle... the plot is also kinda mediocre and left me with little to no interest in the 2nd season and I think I'd rather watch the Daredevil again... also something that I've noticed in this show are some of the most awkward sex scenes I've ever seen on screen to date, like at some point you'll see people getting tortured and killed then suddenly it will jump to some couple fucking, like what the hell is going on?!
MY THOUGHTS ON MARVEL'S THE PUNISHER:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
This show is EXACTLY why I love Marvel Television. It is NEVER afraid to express itself and always manages to impress me. They aren't afraid to be dark and gritty, they aren't afraid to be serious and they aren't afraid to be silly and funny. Marvel's The Punisher leans more on the Dark, Gritty and Serious side. And I really, really love that.
The plot direction is constantly amazing. It consistently flows perfectly and you're never left wanting more or less from the episodes you watch (or I wasn't). The action is always top notch and you're always on the edge of your seat wanting to see more. Is he dead? Will he kill him? I NEED THE NEXT EPISODE!!!
I honestly don't have much bad about this to say, the actors are all brilliant (John Bernthal is literally one of my favourite actors), the directing is brilliant, the costumes are beautiful and the script is well written. My only issue I'd say is I didn't find the second season to be as good as the first season and I was left wanting just a tiny bit more and I would have loved a third season, unfortunately Netflix couldn't provide that BUT hopefully Disney Plus can one day.
After watching this show I really can't see any other actor being Frank Castle besides John Bernthal and I really do believe he could carry this show into a major box office hit. He IS Frank Castle and he performed incredibly.
Overall if you're big on Dark, Gritty and Serious shows then this is the one for you. You'll be on the edge of your seat the entire time and you'll always want the next episode. Definitely watch this.
Overall rating: 9/10
Punisher is AMAZING. I'm watching for the second time. I can´t see anyone doing Frank like Jon Bernthal, it´s sooooo gooood. This TV show is incredible.
Overacting, long and boring storyline, and a 13 episodes long series that could easily been a 5 to 6 episode series..... the many positive reviews are certainly not coming from Punisher Marvel comics fans, that's for sure....
Bye bye Punisher, we will miss you.
The best Punisher season is Daredevil season 2.
If you love Frank Castle, do yourself a favor and skip 11.5 episodes and watch the rest 1.5 episodes like a movie. I can't remember when I was last so extremely bored - if it wouldn't be about Frank, I would have quit...
Don't know where the high ratings come from. This show is not good. It's slow, empty, cliché and totally not "cool" or "tough". Luke Cage was the only show that was nice to watch. Probably something to do with the American cliché of having the worst life, drinking alcohol to drown in your sorrows and having had loss (which we all have in our lives). Being able to relate doesn't make this a good show. Hoped for a surprise, but it's nothing special and even a bit bad..
I can't wait! This show is gonna be lit.
That soundtrack? 10/10, easy! Would watch for that alone, but also really into Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle so far.
cmon guys. this show is what it is meant to be: badass elite soldier eliminating evryone responsible for the death of his family. its no rocket science, its not worthy of an Emmy, but hey i binged it and liked it
cancel The Punisher and make She-Hulk :joy::joy::joy: can't wait wait for The Punisher and Daredevil to show up on Disney+ where he talks the enemy to prison
I read a lot of comments calling this show boring and slow. I guess, after Daredevil, everyone kinda expected this to be Frank Castle aka The Punisher guns blazing killing bad guys left, right and center. If you can get past the fact that it isn´t like that you will discover a great show more along the lines of a conspiracy thriller that, yes, is at times rather slow. Maybe it could have been done in ten episodes. But that slow parts also make the action more intense when it happens. And it helps in building up the characters for a finale that makes up for what might have been lacking before. I am actually a little bit surprised they made this show because the violence and brutality is above normal shows. And that´s not criticism on my part. On the contrary, it supports what kind of character Frank Castle is. He´s no superhero, just a bad a*, pi*ed off human being who does not the moral but the logical thing. Althought he has a moral code. And Bernthal sells this to the T. You can´t imagine anyone else in that role after you watched him. He brings an intensity to the character that, for me, was on par with Charlie Cox and D`Onofrio in Daredevil.
A slight dissapointment for me was Amber Rose Revah as Madani - she always felt out of place, acted stupid and I could never imagine her having been in Afghanistan. While the character traits are not her fault Revahs acting was also sub standard compared to the rest.
After Daredevil this is my second favorite Marvel show all the others I really don´t care about much. I hope for a fast renewal and am eager to see what will come.
(I only rate the show not how it compares to the comics - I have only read a handful if any so I have no grounds to compare)

Netflix Cancelled The Punisher and Jessica Jones. This move brings an end to the Marvel/Netflix joint productions.
Really good production. But one big flaw, the main theme! Frank is not a cowboy and his story is not a story of bravery and valor. His story is about redemption and pain. But then who the hell put this longmire's (which is another netflix show and you should start watching if you didn't by now) rejected theme into the punisher by mistake?
You know what would be a good music? Something like 2005's "punisher the game"'s theme
And yes i'm gonna reinstall and finish the game after this series.
It's gonna be legen...
Wait for it
...dary!
LEGENDARY!
The first season was solid, although the Billy Russo character wasn't very engaging, and they overdid it w/ the government involvement. The second season was a mess. The storyline was convoluted and uninteresting, and the choice to bring back Russo was a bad one. He was all right as a single-season antagonist, but he just wasn't enough of a well-evolved, compelling character to bring him back as a villain for a second season. And, his involvement w/ that doctor was ludicrous and served no purpose in driving the storyline forward. Additionally, the second season antagonist, the Christo-fascist mutt they brought on was boring, and midway through the season, they confused the plot w/ a senator and his family as additional antagonists. The entire season was a victim of poor storyline, poor characters, and a lack of a definitive direction for Frank Castle to go.
People who called this show slow and boring need to get past the fact that the 1st season is setting up the origin of frank castle as the punisher and that's why he's not guns blazing killing every villain he see's like you want. the second season is good but not as good as the 1st. And I'm very excited to see the direction this character goes in now that he'll be in the MCU.
Jon Bernthal's The Punisher premiered in season 2 of Daredevil, where he was one of the highlights. He brought new energy to the iconic character while giving him his own touch of humanity. With the acclaim he received it's no wonder that he soon received his own series, one that even ran for two seasons. Critics were somewhat mixed on it, but the fan consensus seemed a lot more positive, so I dived in. While I loved the first season, in spite of some of the liberties it took, I had many issues with the second that I will discuss now.
Your usual Punisher storyline would see him at the street-level, butchering criminals whose horridity would have you questioning if he really isn't doing the world a favour. The first season largely strays away from that however, instead pitting Frank Castle in a government conspiracy that is entangled with his own history. I give it a pass, as I can see why it is necessary to give a kind of origin story for newcomers - not everyone will have seen Daredevil Season 2. I loved this season as it dealt in-depth with trauma and had a very balanced viewpoint of its controversial themes. It particularly made me sympathetic to its veterans, while showing the reality of many's mental state and the dependence they develop from being on the battlefield. The overall plot is engaging and I like that it ties up very well at the end, something that Season 2 obviously had to undo. But I'm not a fan of the way it did so. It rushed through Frank's needed development and had no idea where to go with him throughout its entire run. Was he an unstable extremist or a wounded soldier with a shot at redeeming himself? A particularly awful moment in Season 2 was having an inconsequential and pointless sideplot with Frank showing mercy that was for some reason started off by having him spare a person that 99% of viewers would have likely shot themselves - a child porn producer. This stems from the horrible decision to give him a teenage sidekick as well, whose relationship with him has its strengths, but the dynamic is just too silly most of the time. A much better companion to Frank was Micro from Season 1, with the dynamic between those two always hanging on a thread as they slowly grew closer. Even then, tensions existed. Overall, while I do like Season 1's unique, if somewhat trite by Hollywood standards, take on its protagonist, Season 2 was a mash of two storylines that did not mesh well, with the more interesting one being thrown to the side (John Pilgrim). The final episode was great at least - I always love seeing Frank enact justice, it's simply too satisfying.
One thing "The Punisher" misses when compared to the rest of the Netflix series is atmosphere. "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" were excellent in this regard, and "Luke Cage" did a fantastic job as well. But this show definitely missed a particular tone that I could latch onto. It certainly tried. The level of violence was off the charts and genuinely made me cringe at times, it was wonderful to watch. A primal part of me just lives to see Frank Castle execute scum. There's also the choice of country/folk music as a more upfront choice besides the ambient electronic pieces that run. While I did like the music, Season 2 had very bizzare and immersion-ruining licensed additions, excluding a certain amazing track in its finale.
Even though Netflix's The Punisher is far from a definitive version of the character, it does tell a genuinely meaningful and well-written story in its first season, in spite some flaws. The second was a mess however, and it was clear the direction was lost, or that it was simply too afraid to delve into Castle's psyche further. The Punisher is not a symbol of optimism, quite the opposite - he's near the definition of nihilism, being a defining representative of the term anti-hero. I enjoyed what I watched, but would recommend you stick to the first season as it is quite complete anyways. I hope we do get to see Jon Bernthal give his wonderful flavour to the character again in the future.

So cool the Punisher watches the same news as me!
This game is awsome... can´t understand why netflix cancel this... They are crazy !
3 Thoughts After Completing ‘Marvel’s The Punisher’:
Jon Bernthal’s incessant gruffness and mega-machismo would otherwise be off-putting, but it worked here. He was (and hopefully will continue to be) the perfect Punisher. With slightly weaker secondary characters all-around, he carried much of the show.
As much as I love the cheesy superhero fluff and standard MCU fare, it’s a nice change of pace to have something super gritty in the mix. This Punisher was relentless and not afraid to get a bit brutal.
It’s not a perfect show, but the fight scenes are top-notch and there are some really solid moments, particularly at the end. Despite its untimely cancellation, it wraps things up rather well. DEF worth a watch!
Great series, unfortunately, season 2 is the final season. 2 seasons wasn't really enough in my opinion.
Not renewed for a 3rd season be someone else owns the rights to it.
If you seek hardcore brutal violence then "The Punisher" is for you. Netflix's version of the character take the overused 1980s vendetta story and turn it on it's head making the character into a tragic broken person that no psychologist can heal as he seek only more and more deaths and carnage to make his own personal bloodbath. There are some dead spots for sure, but most of the time the story goes in fast pace and the characters really seem to go somewhere. The most satisfying version of the comic and the most entertaining and consistent of the Marvel Netflix shows.
boring Netflix so bad at making shows and movies. its only about very slow or non action at all. Netflix only making talking movies and shows pls Netflix stop making shows or anything
season 1 was okay. season 2 starts with a killer on a public hospital with just 2 guards and a personal psychiatrist (to restore his memory, why?) without restrain then walks out free like it was a cinema hall. lmao, so done with this.
Jon Bernthal - with all opinions put aside of him as an actor - very bad choice for Frank Castle, For me its the worst impersonation of all filmography impersonations of Punisher.
Ben Barnes is the brightest character of the whole series - Punisher's real title should be: "Jigsaw".
In fact i'm not sad that it was canceled
This series has been cancelled because season 2 sucked so bad. please update your series status
Season 2 is too slow and have poorer plot than the First. The action/fight scenes are the perfect remedy.. It could be better tho. Keep it up marvel!!
We need more manly and badass anti-hero movie like Punisher and Banshee. Enough drama and plot just to motivate lead role to do more damage and action to villains with no hesitation #grin
The first season was good, but the second is a real poor story.
I really enjoyed season 3. Jon is a fantastic Punisher.. The way he scream while fighting is perfect.
I wonder why we don't see him more with his "Punisher outfit" ?
The last 15 second are just perfect :-)
Hope we see season 3 ...
Super show love it season 3 ???
Three episodes in, there are so many stupid things happening. Some of the writing is so annoying. Very disappointing. I hope it gets better.
(Honestly, I only spoiler tagged this out of courtesy, it's so transparent it's laughable.)
Sees Billy Russo for the first time: Oh, that guy is the bad guy, right?
A few episodes in: That guy is so obviously the bad guy, he can't be the bad guy.
End of Episode 6: ~Sigh~
Awesome! It took some time to build, but it was nice that it slowly build the storm and the story. Some of the fights are really really brutal, but in a good way, I mean, it's nice that some show took the path of intense brutal fights then just some easy punches. The ending was damn brutal and I highly suggest to watch an entire season, not just a few first episodes, because you get what you came for sure.
Fantastic show. Jon Bernthal did an amazing job as Castle/Punisher and worked very well with Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Lieberman. I enjoyed every single episode but those last 3 really give you the goose bumps. Soundtrack = perfect. Can't wait for season 2!
By far the best of the Netflix Marvel series!
That was what we need.Kill all those bad guys.Stop pitying them anymore. That is what the punisher gave us :) I am satisfied with it.
The best Tv show From Marvel and Netflix sofar
After really enjoying the first season of DAREDEVIL (9.5 out of 10), I was looking forward to the Netflix/Marvel partnership building it's Defenders Universe. JESSICA JONES fell short of my hopes, but it grew on me (8.5), and LUKE CAGE (6.5) and IRON FIST (5) were just fair to lukewarm. DEFENDERS (8.5) brought things back to JESSICA JONES level, but left me fearful for PUNISHER's solo season, as I had felt the long philosophical dialogues between Castle and Murdock seriously damaged the DAREDEVIL success. But, I was pleasantly surprised, with the first season. The story had an full arch, the new characters were interesting, foreseeing the twists was enjoyable. It was incredibly violent by design, but, all in all, I gave it an 7.5 (good) out of 10. The second* season, was more of the same, but was very slow. It would have benefited from some editing, and could have been better served by 8 or 10 episodes rather than dragging everything out to fill 12 episodes. I still rate this series a 7.5 out of 10. [Vendetta Adventure/Drama].
*The Netflix/Marvel partnership has ended. In 2018, Netflix announced they would not be making anymore seasons of DAREDEVIL, LUKE CAGE or IRON FIST. In 2019 they have announced that JESSICA JONES will finish with its promised 3rd season (set to stream later this year) and PUNISHER has concluded with this second season. There is a rumour that Marvel is pulling back its DEFENDERS titles to their parent company Disney for exclusive access on the new Disney Plus streaming service. We will have to wait and see. Another DEFENDERS would be a great restart.
Pretty kickass show. Flawed, but I think it got enough things right that most of its missteps can be forgiven.
they should make a Ghost Rider show, too.
gets better every episode, actually.
Still waiting on the extremely violent non stop action Punisher. Netflix needs to apply the GOT method to these series too. Dragging through drama is not cool. Still better than Iron Fist.
Loved every bit of it, as good as daredevil in my book
Finally a Marvel series for adults. Great season
Four episodes in.....and slow as hell...
Interesting, I recently started the comic and now they are making the show. Not sure whether to watch and read or read and watch
If the anticipated category were ranked, this would be number 1 until released....then season 2 would be the new number 1
Review by AdecoolBlockedParent2018-01-14T21:59:58Z
What an absolute SNOOOOOZE. This show should be called The Punishment. Because watching it feels like a goddamn punishment! I could barely make it through the fourth episode before completely giving up. Frank Castle as a character was completely bastardised in the episodes i saw, turning him into an awkward loser that can't get over his dead wife instead of a badass vigilante. I hate all of the supporting characters, the ELITE HACKER is so fucking cheesy and his homo-erotic relationship with Frank is ridiculous, the stronk middle eastern chick is hot but boring and the fucking soldier with PTSD was just.. I DON'T CARE! why does this show spend so much time making a huge statement on PTSD, this isn't Band of Brothers.
Why do we need this hacker to help Frank get guns? HE IS THE PUNISHER, HE SHOULD HAVE GUNS BETWEEN HIS ASS CRACK. I've never seen a superhero show deviate from their source material so fucking much for so fucking long, can you imagine if the first 4 episodes of Supergirl were of Cara working her 9 to 5 office job with no mention of her powers at all, or if the first episodes of Daredevil were of Matt working as a regular lawyer for some random dude with no mention of his secret identity. It would be ridiculous! The Punisher is a major disappointment! If you want to see a good Punisher story just watch season 2 of Daredevil. I honestly don't think he needed his own series.
