There is one thing this show is not is generic

One of the best TV series of 2021. The entire crew compliment each other. Even the SWAT team came in with a vengeance. The police may be corrupt but it was for the greater good. Truly looking forward to season 2.

This show is genuinely annoying with how much the characters curse constantly I typically don’t / never have cared or even noticed any show that used the word fuck but it’s so annoying in this show. ‘Hey fuckin it’s fuckin Mike, how the fuckin fuck have you fuck been man, fuuuuuck bro fuuuuuuuckin fuck’ oh piss off it’s not endearing it’s annoying

This is a great show, it has drama, action, some comedy and the acting is pretty great.
I would have liked two things to happen: more screen time for Robbert, SWAT leader, I liked his no BS approach to situations and that Mitch didn't die in the first episode, rather be in a coma then slowly recover and show some interaction between Mitch (old mayor) and Mike (new mayor).

in case anyone is interested there are apparently 10 episodes in season one. every website (including this one) seems to indicate 6 for some reason....

This is one of the most unique shows on TV. Very well written and the acting is great. Between this show and Yellowstone Paramount + is the channel to watch. What will they do next! Oh yeah, 1883 that’s what. Keep going!

Another Tyler Sheridan show. After Yellowstone success he's in demand, and that's a good thing imo.
He's new show 1883 is about to be released, so he will have 3 running tv shows of hight quality.
If you like some criminal drama, mixed with some dark grit plot lines, don't miss this one.

Actually not a bad show at all and nice that they used Kingston Ontario and the former Kingston penitentiary for filming it’s a must watch

Season 2 is only a couple of days away and I can't wait for one of the best shows to come out in the last few years,I also hope Jeremy gets better after his bad accident as he is a top notch actor.

Although it seems like a minor Taylor Sheridan production, the series slowly establishes itself as a tense prison thriller in which a very blurred line is drawn between the police and the behavior of the prisoners. Violent and as full of testosterone as Sheridan's productions, the most terrible thing is the portrait of a chaotic prison system that prefers punishment over reintegration in favor of economic results.

There are some great individual acting performances including Jeremy Renner and Emma Laird. The premise and overall story are good. The plot holes and yeah rights are also aplenty and the leader of the crips has the worst pretending to be American accent I've heard in a long time. Suspend disbelief and just enjoy the show.

Season 1 (7.5/10)
Season 2 (5.5/10)

Overall (6.5/10)

Season 1: Interesting and dark world that the talented Taylor Sheridan has created. Strong performances from the entire cast led by Jeremy Renner in a strong way. It was a bit sad to see that Kyle Chandler was only in the first episode but it was the catalyst that Renner's character needed.

Season 2: A step down from the first season for sure. Iris storylines were dragging and Dianne Wiest felt even more underused than the first season. Jeremy Renner and the cast itself delivers solid performances but the show overall fails to deliver after a promising first season most likely to Taylor Sheridan not being as involved with this season.

Season 1 is superb, season 2 is lackluster - you could skip the first 8 episodes and not miss anything.

I hope season 3 redeems the show.

Even though I still liked season 2 it was a bit of a letdown after a great first season. If there is a third season it needs to be a big improvement or it is time to cancel.

A score of 8/10 great…..
But this is only for the first season, the second is just a repeat of the first and nothing new added.
There are points in the show that you will just scratch your head and say “but that just wouldn’t happen” but for entertainment purposes they have to happen.
My advice is to watch the first season and enjoy it, then walk away from the show and say that was great I’m so glad it was a one off season and even pretend to yourself “I wonder how good another season would have been?”….
Then leave it at that…..
