The episode was suspenseful and emotional, though to some extend it feels a bit cowardly of Merlin not to tell Arthur the truth, so that his dying friend "takes the blame" for the magic. Particularly after Arthur's moderate reaction to the friends' false confession. It feels like something is missing here. On the whole, a good episode but nothing ground-breaking. Merlin does seem a bit more mature after casting the spell, and I don't know whether it is just me or did the spell he used really sounded like "Theoden"? Perhaps it is just my tolkienist mind speaking. And Morgana looks great as a fighting #actiongirl.
