Merlin falls in love with a lass, saving her from trouble and having his first kiss with her, but his lady love turns out to be a shape-shifter changing into a giant cat, which leaves him heart-broken after she is killed. The episode was very varied as the scenes with Merlin stealing Arthur's food and Morgana's dress for his lover are hilarious, while the ending when he brings Freya to a place that resembles her homeland is really moving, emphasising that Merlin's affection for her was genuine and not just an infatuation. I wonder how his first experience of romantic love is going to change Merlin. I did not expect anything special from this episode after reading the summary so I was presently surprised. Still, I hoped that Merlin might be able to remove the curse somehow thanks to his magic and love for Freya, since true love can often overcome curses in some fairy tale stories.
