It's always a risk to turn a "noodle incident" style running joke into an actual episode, especially when something like this is funny enough on it's own to be never explained. That being said, this one passes with flying colours easily thanks to taking that premise and just rolling with it. It's absurdist humor at it's best, constantly upping the stakes and surrealness without leaving out basic setups and payoffs to each and every joke. The episode even ends with one of the most morbidly funny jokes in Dan and Swampy's entire filmography (seriously, it's shocking they were able to get away with it).

It's also a great episode in terms of developing the relationship between Milo and Melissa, whose friendship you can feel even during these flashback sequences. Unlike with P&F, which developed the characters' comraderie naturally over the course of 4 seasons, Milo and Melissa are close at the start which makes for a very different, and yet equal fun, dynamic compared to that show.
