(The math stuff on the Bandit Training chalkboard was impressive. I wonder how long it took to do it, both by the person who wrote it down and the person/people who came up with all of it. Hats off to them.)
Once again, Jon Bass brought his 'A' Game to his performance as Todd Aberdeen. If there was any doubt when I wrote in my review of the previous episode that he's my favorite character so far, it's long gone because of this episode. Two of the best moments in this episode involved Todd: when he started slapping Lionel and then when he started imitating Ezekiel with the British accent, along with humping the dead buffalo. In general, everything about the way Jon played Todd in this episode was great. And there was also a third moment that involved Todd, indirectly more than directly: when Lionel was being mauled and eaten by the bears. The acting of that was so fake, on purpose, probably, and was so hilarious.
And it seems like the prediction I made in my review for the premiere could slowly be happening. I predicted that the number of people in their group would slowly start dwindling throughout the season to where only the obvious characters are the ones left. And it seems like people from the group are starting to die off, starting with Lionel. But his death may not mean anything in regards to more people dying. Although this is only the third episode, and there are ten episodes in this season. My prediction could still come to fruition, more or less.
I think that as an episode, this one was better than the previous episode and the premiere. And I think the buffalo hunting half of the episode was the better half over the half with Benny and Prudence. I think Todd played a huge part in that, but still.
And there were two little plot inconsistencies where Lionel, John, and everyone else kept running past the cave and were safe, yet Ezekiel and Todd chose to go in the cave; and then the fact that they somehow were able to bring the dead buffalo that wasn't too far away from the bears back to their camp.
There was a sound that sounded like a body being dragged, so maybe that explains it, but then what about the details of Lionel's death that Ezekiel mentioned at the end, as well as the fact that Lionel's body was buried unless they didn't bury anything? That would suggest that they didn't go straight to the buffalo and leave.
And I noticed one editing mistake: the frame of The Gunslinger in the background as Benny was about to take a bite out of the chicken leg after finishing peeing, as the Gunslinger started talking, right before the frame switched to a close up of his face as he said it, his mouth wasn't moving, but audio-wise, the dialogue already started. But inconsistencies like that were probably in the first two episodes as well, and they aren't that big of a deal anyway.
