I absolutely can't stand sitcom episodes where parents embarrass their children and act like it's no big thing or like it's perfectly normal. It's not funny at all. It's cringe-worthy and makes me angry. Yes, I'm especially looking at Claire and Phil. It's even worse when they don't learn from their mistakes and do it again and again and again. Yes, I'm still looking at Claire and Phil.

as this show is so popular, it created such a widely-accepted stereotype with this episode, that lesbians and gay men have nothing in common and cannot be friends. as a lesbian, i can assure you that the reality is farthest from it.
